12 http://www.tigweb.org/tiged/projects In January 2015, we ran our Project-Based Learning for Global Citizenship course, accredited at the graduate level, with 28 globally minded teachers from Canada, Costa Rica, Kenya, Netherlands, and United States. This course is designed to support educators by identifying practical ways to implement pedagogies that reinforce the development of 21st century skills and global citizenship skills in students, while addressing unique needs and curriculum requirements. http://www.tigweb. org/tiged/projects This year TakingITGlobal held the Empowering Student Voice in Education Professional Development (ESVE) course where 57 educators, from Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, explored the current state of student voice in their classrooms and strengthened student participation and engagement by facilitating collaborative and inclusive teaching methodologies. While teachers supported their students throughout the learning process they also supported each other through cluster-based meetings during the course sessions, and through various online discussions and blogs. The e-course allowed them to access ongoing resources as well as receive feedback and encouragement from other ESVE T O R O N T O S C H O O L B O A R D D I S T R I C T The very first cohort for the Education for Social Innovation course engaged 80 educators from 25 TDSB schools from WR3 and ER19 clusters. The educators from this course have implemented 57 classroom projects exploring social issues identified by their students. The students were given the opportunity take ownership over the development of the project plan and implementing it in their schools. Students have started breakfast programs in their schools, developed a bilingual children's story book, raised money for the earthquake in Nepal, hold information campaigns on equality, started environmental clubs, and so on. participants. According to our post-course survey, 93% of participants expressed that they gained new knowledge and skills that have direct and practical value. The culmination of the ESVE course led to our Student Voice National Showcase, held on June 3rd, 2015. This event gave teachers and students across Canada the opportunity to showcase the Student Voice projects they had been working on throughout the course.
