Page 6 Texas Alpha to the Top N otre Dame weekend was a great success with a couple hundred brothers meeting at Cain & Abel's for the pregame party. A number took the shuttle to 2501 Nueces to tour the rapidly developing Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house. Although it appears that the Longhorns might have peaked in week one with a thrilling double-overtime victory over Notre Dame, the fraternity presses steadily upward toward the completion of our new home. Also on hand to tour the new house were undergraduate brothers, including the sharpest pledge class that I have seen in all the years of my board service; the undergraduate rush captains and leadership are to be congratulated. Future Phi Psi House Unlike Any Other Phi Psis and guests that toured the house left completely impressed with the scope and quality of the project. The new Phi Psi compound optimizes every square inch of the one-half block that it occupies. Features will include underground parking, four three-bedroom Texas alpha hires ManageMenT CoMpany To ensure upkeep of new phi psi hoMe Dallas artists at Iron Age Studios handcrafted these doors and lighting fixtures that will be installed at the Phi Psi house. These incredible pieces will last for the next 100 years. townhomes, an elevated sport court, a shaded courtyard, a new three-story structure featuring a two-story grand room with fireplace, a spacious dining room with serving area and kitchen, a large chapter room, a media room and library (future lurker lounge?), plus 17 single rooms on the third floor. This fraternity compound will be unlike anything in the country let alone the U.T. campus. Exquisite Crasmanship This newsletter includes photos of the outstanding lighting fixtures and doors that will be included in the new house. These were all manufactured by the award-winning Iron Age Studios in Dallas. Each of these fixtures are handcrafted and made of brass or iron. They are artistically stunning yet incredibly durable and will last for 100 years. Managing the New House With this exceptional investment in a fraternity house, many alumni have asked me specifically how we plan on maintaining the property given the wear and tear nature of so many college-age young men living in it and using its facilities. The house board unanimously voted to contract with S&T Fraternity Management, a national property management organization focused specifically on fraternity houses. We vetted this organization and its reputation is sterling. It will handle all leasing aspects to the undergraduate chapter as well as collections and deposits. S&T works closely with Omega Fi on monthly billings to the undergraduates and is a preferred provider with our insurance company, Holmes Murphy. It has a property professional in Austin that will inspect the property every two weeks for damages. Any damage will be repaired immediately and the property deposit account will be debited and then replenished in the next month's billing cycle. S&T has a great track record; check out their website, http://stfraternitymanagement.com. In the bond, Kelly E. Fish '77 Campaign Chairman/President Texas Alpha House Board, Inc.
