Texas Alpha House Board, Inc. P.O. Box 28061 Austin, TX 78755-8061 Address Service Requested Attention: This newsletter is intended for alumni and parents. If your son is attending the University of Texas, he will receive a copy at the chapter house. If he has graduated, please send us his permanent address to update our records. Thank you. to the Top Texas Alpha A s President of Texas Alpha, I am excited to say that the chapter has never had more potential for growth and positivity to move forward. With the opening of the new house coming in spring 2017, we are taking steps to ensure a smooth transition into the new facility so that we can hit the ground running academically, philanthropically, socially; and in recruitment. Our chapter G.P.A. of 3.1 puts us in the middle of fraternities on campus at U.T. We have implemented a plan to raise our G.P.A. by 0.1 over the next two semesters to a 3.3 G.P.A., which would put us in the top five of all fraternities. We are implementing new scholarship incentives as well as mandatory study hours for brothers struggling to make grades. We have raised our mandatory philanthropy hours to 20 hours per academic year. We are renewing with our national philanthropy, Boys & Girls Club, and scheduling multiple trips for brothers to volunteer in and around Austin to benefit the organization. In addition, we co-hosted a field day event in October for the Boys & Girls Club. On campus, Texas Alpha has a proud tradition of involvement in various student leadership and service groups. Recently, Matt Knight '14 and Emilio Seng '14 were selected to join the Texas Cowboys. We would like to thank our alumni and parents for their support of our efforts. Without you, much of our work would be unobtainable. It is truly beneficial to receive advice from alumni who have a wealth of knowledge from past years of service to Texas Alpha. Last spring, our softball team had a successful season, making it to the semifinals of the all-male Greek league. We were excited to start intramurals this fall and to continue our proud tradition of involvement and success at Texas. In October, our brother-only and co-ed teams began the flag football and soccer season. As a chapter, we look forward to the success and potential of Texas Alpha. With the upcoming move-in to the new house at 2501 Nueces, we are poised to make a big leap forward to one of the top Greek houses on campus at Texas. We would again like to thank all alumni for their support that has helped over the past years, especially our new chapter advisors, Brent Monteleone '84 and Bryan Muecke '75; TAHB Director Kelly Fish '77; and Scott Noble '81, who have generously donated time, effort and funds to the completion of the new house and the betterment of the chapter.
