$370,000 IN CASH STILL NEEDED BY YEAR-END Support Texas Alpha Today and Rally Your Brothers to Name a Room in the New House T he end of the year is fast approaching, and so are some major furniture purchases for Texas Alpha. As you may remember, in our last newsletter I made a call to brothers for gifts of a significant size so that the chapter may have enough cash on hand ($736,000) to properly furnish our magnificent new home. House Remains Unfurnished Since then we have raised $83,920 in new gifts (with a couple of brothers making gifts at the $25,000 level!). Our current cash-on-hand balance equals $166,000, with an additional $200,000 in pledge payments due by year- end. While we are extremely grateful for every dollar pledged to the campaign, we are still $370,000 away from our year-end cash goal. As of today, we have enough to furnish the third- floor bedrooms, but will still be unable to buy kitchen appliances and dinnerware; furnish the living room, chapter room and study room; put in a security system; and install an ADA- compliant elevator, per city code. We are still on schedule for a January move-in, but without your individual or class support, our members will have to move into the Honors Townhomes if the new house remains unfurnished. I realize many of us cannot afford to contribute five-figure gifts. If that is the case, I encourage you to rally your brothers and take part in the class competition that ends December 31. Classes can secure naming rights to one of the available rooms (see page 3). Class Gifts Make a Difference Brent Monteleone '84 describes why his class came together to name the library. "We're doing this because we have remained close and want to give back to the fraternity as a visible Fall 2016 Texas Alpha to the Top and enduring sign of thanks for our lifelong friendship. We also want to see Texas Alpha become and remain a top-tier fraternity at the university, and helping to finance the construction of the house is the most important way to do this. This project requires broad alumni support, but our alumni are contributing at a lower percentage than other Phi Psi chapters' capital campaigns in both dollars and numbers of brothers. More is required, and my pledge class wants to step up. We feel that any brother who enjoys his fraternity memories or continues to get anything out of its friendships, will regret not being part of this effort to ensure an amazing future for Phi Psi at Texas, including giving the benefits that we have enjoyed as brothers to future generations of young men. We're very excited about this historic opportunity for Texas Alpha!" I ask you to follow the class of 1984's lead and submit your group gift today. All the rooms in the new chapter house are spectacular, and to have your class' name permanently attributed to one will be an extreme honor. To submit your class gift, contact me. Or, you may donate by returning your pledge in the enclosed envelope or by setting up your gift online at www.phipsitexas.com. Those brothers contributing $5,000 or more will have their names inscribed on a plaque that will forever hang in the new Texas Alpha home. Only 60 days remain until December 31, and Texas Alpha is counting on you. In the bond, Kelly E. Fish '77 Campaign Chairman/President Texas Alpha House Board, Inc. Your gift will ensure the space is furnished and ready for our active members.
