DDD Crescent News Delta Xi Chapter at the University of Missouri Fall 2016 W ith the entire house outfitted with a sprinkler system and the construction and renovation completed, you would think we would be able to rest! But updates are constant. This summer, we worked on the third-floor bedrooms, which consisted of sealing the existing flooring, installing new hardwood laminate, painting the walls and trim, installing new baseboards, purchasing new mirrors, and making the switch to towel hooks instead of bars. Everything is now updated and looks amazing! Of course, there are all of the typical items—lawn sprinkler repairs, landscaping updates, carpet/tile floor cleaning, maintenance of all kitchen appliances, fire inspections, HVAC maintenance, hiring and training of a new cleaning company, mattress replacement, and washer/dryer replacement. Whew! Thank you to our own Kathy Hamby Walther '71 for all of her project coordination, scheduling, and constant attention she gives to 901 Richmond to keep it sparkling and functioning. There are several other Columbia alumnae who we depend on to show up for scheduled deliveries, to water plants, to clean out closets, and to pay the bills. We are blessed to have such a caring and supportive House Corporation Board. We continue to focus on paying down our loans from the construction project and appreciate all of the contributions that have been made to date. As you can see, there is a lot of work and money that goes into keeping a house that holds 96 women running. So please feel free to contribute to the Delta Xi House Corporation, monetarily or in deed. Future projects are already in mind, including an update to the front lawn. The large oak tree next to the ATW house is dying and we hope to make the front entrance ADA accessible, giving a nice facelift in the front of the house. We have plans to upgrade all of the bedroom doors to fire rated doors and to finish updating all bedroom floors to hardwood laminate. With the needs of our undergraduates, we must keep up with technology advances and will also need to replace some air conditioning units and kitchen coolers that are nearing the end of their usefulness. In all of this activity, we are excited for the future of Tri Delta and hope you will stop in to take a tour of the house when you are in Columbia. Let us know if you are interested in serving or contributing to the House Corporation. I am so fortunate to serve with this amazing group of women who give selflessly to the future of Delta Xi. This summer, work was completed to remediate the issue of sloping floors in the bedrooms. A new vinyl plank was installed, giving the rooms a fresh look.
