Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Missouri • Fall 2016 C hapter members and parents were pleased on move-in day by the fresh paint and new carpet throughout the second and third floors of the house. The updates provide a much-needed freshening of the upstairs. The largest project of the summer, however, was the installation of new fire-rated, self-closing doors on all bedrooms as part of the House Corporation Board's safety initiative. Combination locks were added for convenience so that no one needs to fumble with keys, recover lost keys or deal with the distribution/collection of room keys at the end of the semester. Each door features a new magnetic dry erase board, with the options of writing notes, magnetic for using magnets to post notes and a cork strip for pushpins. In addition, several bedrooms received new furniture and many small repairs were completed. Recruitment return rates have improved significantly since the renovation of the first floor and lower level in 2013; upgrades will continue. Chapter members are doing a good job caring for the chapter house. The House Corporation Board is making plans to replace more bedroom floors, update the bathroom in the house director's suite, renovate the chapter president's room to make it ADA compliant and renovate the kitchen. Alumnae are invited and welcome to stop by the chapter house to see the changes that have taken place in the last four years. Middle: New carpet and paint on the second and third floors freshen the décor. Right: New six-panel doors preserve the charm and character of the six-panel doors in the original section of the house, some of which were more than 80 years old.
