iii iii iii iii iii iii iii iii Gamma Phi Beta 3 Securing the Future Success of Alpha Delta so the women meet in a lecture hall on campus or a church just off campus. Both have advantages and disadvantages. In order to build a strong sisterhood, we need to accommodate these women in a chapter room large enough to all join together as one. AHC is consulting with Woody Ratterman, Managing Partner of CLS Management, LLC, out of Franklin, Tenn. A possible goal would be to move the dining room and kitchen to the first floor, have a chapter room and dining area to seat 300 women, update the housemother's quarters, upgrade bathrooms and entry of the house to ADA compliant, possibly change some rooms to suites, and add study areas. We have sent requests for proposals to several architects and have narrowed our search and are interviewing the architects to find the best fit for Alpha Delta. Once again, we will be initiating a capital campaign to support either the tear down and rebuild or the renovation of the chapter house. We will use the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation to pursue the capital campaign. We can't wait to present our plans for Alpha Delta to you. Just like the chapter needs all members to participate to make every project a success, we need our alumnae to participate to make magic happen to the chapter house. Please consider giving generously so Alpha Delta can continue to compete on the University of Missouri campus. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I am continuously reminded why I chose Gamma Phi Beta to be my second home, and I am proud of all of the hard work and accomplishments I have seen from my sisters the last few months. We have a lot of fun activities and events planned for this school year. phILanthropy pLans Our members are excited to host a new philanthropy event this fall, raising funds for an organization called Girls on the Run. We will be having a kickball tournament, Moonball, in which fraternity members can enter teams to participate. We will also host our other philanthropic event, Grilled Cheese with the G Phi B's, during the spring semester. We are excited for both of these events to take place. During philanthropy round of recruitment, our members and potential new members watched a video about Girls on the Run. Afterward, everyone was given the chance to write words of encouragement on a postcard to send to a girl who will be running a local 5K in November. They also attached a hair tie to the postcard that the girls can wear during the run. thIrd-LarGEst ChaptEr Recruitment has officially wrapped up and we are excited to announce that we have a new pledge class of 76 beautiful, smart, and driven women; 10 of whom are legacies. Our Bid Day was August 21 and we had a carnival theme. We all had a great time taking pictures, enjoying carnival food, and dancing with the DJ. With our new pledge class, our chapter total is now at 305, making us the third-largest Gamma Phi Beta chapter in the nation! Gpa ImprovEs Our chapter's GPA last semester was a 3.275, which not only meant we improved from the semester before, but we also were above the all- women, all-university, and all-Greek rankings. This year, we plan to continue having required study hours and rewarding our highest GPA earners with a scholarship dinner, which will include a s'mores bar. EvEnts GaLorE Our chapter was excited to have our first sisterhood retreat of the year at a local rollerblading park. It was a great way to spend time getting to know our new members and growing our sisterhood. This fall, we are excited to announce that we will be paired with the men from FarmHouse and Kappa Alpha Order for Homecoming. Our Homecoming theme is "The Lorax" and our Homecoming parade and house shows will be the weekend of October 22. We hope to see you there. We had a blast during Mom's Weekend last semester. Our members and their moms spent a beautiful day at a local winery and another eating brunch and shopping with vendors at the chapter house. We absolutely love having our moms in Columbia with us and we appreciate all they do for us! We look forward to seeing them this year during Family Weekend. Our initiation is set for Thursday, October 27, at 6 p.m. and we would love for all of our local alumnae to attend. We thank you for all of your support and we hope to see each of you at the 808 this semester! In IIKE, ally Wallenta '14 Chapter President aswpp5@mail.missouri.edu 1 2 1.
