ACADEMICS AND RECRUITMENT REMAIN TOP PRIORITIES FOR PI DEUTERON www.kufiji.org 5 T he Pi Deuteron Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta is already hard at work this fall. We have accom- plished a great deal of success during the first few months of the semester and would be delighted to share with you some highlights. Scholarship The Chapter has reinstituted a hard-working schol- arship committee composed of members from each grade level who seek to continuously emphasize the importance of scholarship to members in their class. We are going through a lot of exciting changes and are restructuring the scholarship program, which should boost our GPA significantly in the future. Recruitment Recruitment Chairmen Jack Mikesell '19, Spencer Deason '19, and Dan- ny Finley '19 are just warming up to their newly elected positions. With good advice and influence from the previous chairmen, the new committee is hard at work planning recruitment events for this fall semester. These events are essential to the future success of the Chapter. Our first event will be a "Pitch and Put" golf tour in late September/early October. Intramurals With new talent available and experienced leadership in place, Fiji's soccer team looks stronger than ever. Disappointed and frustrated with second- place finishes, the team is off to a great start, winning their first indoor game 12-4. Both indoor soccer and flag football are underway and the teams look to improve their results from last year. Rock Chalk Revue Directors AJ Appino '18, Daniel Erickson '19, and Heath Satterlee '17 are hard at work with the women of Kappa Delta to create another fantastic show that will surely capture the attention of everyone and help raise money for philanthropy. KU Campus Involvement Pi Deuteron's own John Foster '19 was elected to KU IFC as the director of community service and philan- thropy. All of our members are in the swing of things with their various clubs and organizations. Major Goals for the Semester The Chapter hopes to improve upon its esteemed reputation on campus ev- ery year. We also plan to start off strong in the recruitment process this fall, win various intramural events, and work hard at being a top five Chapter in academics. It has been a pleasure being elected President of the fine men of Pi Deu- teron. I appreciate every alumnus interaction as it helps our members grow and see what it means to be a true Phi Gamma Delta. All Brothers who wish to stop by the house are more than welcome to do so. I wish everyone the best this coming year! Fraternally, Erich Lanz '17 Chapter President erichlanz@yahoo.com Fiji KU members during this fall's Yell In event. This fall's new member class. Pi Deuteron's beloved housemother, Jackie Henderson.
