Corley '49 X591 and Keith Johnson '60 X753 R obert N. Corley '49 X591 passed away December 11, 2015 in Sarasota, Fla. at the age of 85. His wife, Elinor, preceded him in death in February 2009. Bob was born in Oak Park, Ill., in 1930. He resided in Champaign until 1974, when he moved to Athens, Ga., and later to Sarasota. He graduated from Illinois in 1952, and served on active duty in the Army as an officer from 1952 to 1954. He received his law degree from the U. of I. College of Law in 1957, and became a professor in the business school at UIUC until 1974. He then became a distinguished professor of legal studies at the University of Georgia until he retired in 1984. During his long career Bob was the author of numerous leading textbooks in the business and business law fields, still in use today. Many of our brothers had the honor of studying under Prof. Corley at Illinois, and remember his quiet and professional leadership. He was active with the UI Senate and other leadership roles throughout his career, including various positions in Sarasota county government, and was very proud to have been able to serve. Bob is survived by his twin brother, also our Brother, Dr. Richard (Dick) Corley, M.D. '49 X592 of Peoria, Ill., and by his sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Richard Carver. Dick and Bob joined Chi Zeta together, as Chi 591 and 592, and had many close friends from that amazing class, including Bill Stallman X579, Dick Reynolds X600, Jim Scheeler X562, the late Ralph Smykal X575 and other distinguished Chi Zeta alumni. Bob was a great supporter of Chi Zeta throughout his life. A High Pi chapter advisor in the late '50s, he served on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association in the '70s, and with his brother Dick was a major donor to the 1977 addition campaign. Our deepest condolences go out to the Corley family. K eith Johnson '60 X753, husband of B'Ann Johnson, passed away on June 1. He was born and raised in Kewanee, Ill. He is survived by his loving wife; one son, Jeff, his wife, Stacy, and two beautiful granddaughters, Lily and Claire, all of whom live in Lexington, Ky.; and a sister, Janice Shriver of Phoenix, Ariz. Keith arrived at the University of Illinois as a freshman in the fall of 1958. He pledged Lambda Chi Alpha in the fall of 1959. Keith took an active role in all aspects of fraternity life and campus wide activities. He served as Lambda Chi's treasurer for several semesters. Keith was well-liked by all that knew him and was a devoted friend to his fraternity brothers. After graduation, Keith continued an active interest in Lambda Chi attending many Homecoming celebrations at the chapter house over the years; he was a strong supporter of the Fighting Illini football and basketball teams. Most recently, Keith was supportive of the chapter's plan to build a new chapter house for future Lambda Chis at Illinois. Keith graduated from the University of Illinois after having earned the degrees of B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. Following graduation, Keith accepted a position at the University of Kentucky. He had a distinguished career as a member of the faculty of business and economics department. During his 38-year career, he taught a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses, mainly in financial management and investments. Over his career, he served as departmental chairman, earned the professional rank of full professor, served on some 70 different doctoral committees, and authored or co-authored more than 100 different research papers. His professional activities also reached overseas, having conducted classes in the summer study program at the University of Lancaster, England; participated in the Pacific Basin Conference in Taipei, Taiwan; and was an invited lecturer at Kazakhstan University. Keith's greatest love was for his family. Keith knew that love of family is one of life's greatest gifts and the memories that we share as a family live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. All Lambda Chis say goodbye to such a dear and loyal fraternity brother, Keith Johnson.
