W ith Beta Zeta Chapter entering its 138th year on Butler's campus, it's a great time to reflect on our accomplishments; a testament to our sustainability, strong brotherhood, and continued pursuit of excellence. Few Delt chapters, or Greek chapters for that matter, have such a great history to smile about. From the completion of the Matt White Wing, new, state-of-the-art study facilities, growth in attendance for alumni events, and a recruiting plan that remains the envy of Delt chapters nationwide, BZ has much to celebrate. STriving For ACADemiC SUCCeSS A c a d e m i c a l l y, t h e c h a p t e r c o n t i n u e s t o s t r i v e f o r improvement, fighting complacency every step of the way. In spring 2016, BZ earned a cumulative GPA of 3.372, our highest since 2011! This score placed us above the all-men's and all-fraternity averages and third among fraternities on campus (behind Sigma Nu (3.421) and Phi Delt (3.40)). Meaning, we only trailed the top spot by 0.05. Butler is a growing university, and with that comes extreme amounts of competition. Only the best of the best are receiving acceptance into the university; yet, Butler's largest freshman class to date entered this fall. Beta Zeta understands it's time to dig in, grease the wheels, and continue to drive for higher goals for both our academic performance and recruitment. With that in mind, the Beta Zeta executive team recently completed their annual summer retreat. This retreat occurs each year before the fall semester and is where our chapter's executive team and visiting alumni gather to map out the next academic year, chapter priorities and goals, and the path forward to achieve them. This retreat concluded with some great ideas and strategies for the fall semester. This includes continuing our Shelter study sessions four days per week, and the implementation of an academic matrix to increase member performance and accountability. With the new Matt White Wing, the undergraduates are taking full advantage of the new academic rooms and A/V equipment made possible by our generous alumni. ShelTer oFFerS BeTA ZeTA A CompeTiTive eDge The 2015-16 academic year marked the first complete school year of undergraduates living in the newly renovated Shelter and Matt White Wing. Our chapter is now offering a competitive edge for on-campus living and easing some of the challenges faced during recruitment. Walking through the halls of the Shelter not only brings back fond memories of my pledgeship and life as an active member, but now builds new feelings of humility, thankfulness, and pride. What an accomplishment! To the alumni who stepped up, answered the call, and gave of your time, talent, and treasure—we sincerely and gratefully thank you.
