Our congratulations to the students and their families, our hopes and prayers are with them all for a bright and successful l future. Illegal voters? The last Council Meeting of June 4th was a real eye opener for me. How does one begin to answer the question, what is happening here in Quartzsite…and why? Ask 50 differ- ent people and you'll get 50 different answers. Many citizens have suspected voter fraud for several years but now there is hard evidence. I ap- plaud the Council, Town Manager and Town Attorney for pursuing this issue. The County in the past has been no help and tells us pretty much it is our problem. Is there a solution? MAYBE. This is a perfect time for the Quartzsite Town Council to petition the League of Cities and Towns for more stringent voter laws for Arizona. Having rent receipts or ID cards should not be enough. If you live here in Quartzsite, Arizona, you have a driver's license and registration for your vehicle. All others should have SOLID proof of permanent residence for the last year. Could this be done? Sure. If you ask numerous small towns in Arizona who have a big infl ux in their popula- tion, they have the same concerns. Is there a chance we will have the same problems in the future, probably, until someone takes the initiative to change the laws. Ask yourself this question, why would people stoop to these tactics? One thing to remember is, these illegal voters have tipped the balance. Good honest Council Members who work for the Town and are INVOLVED are now being thrown to the wolves. I always have said look to the char- acter of a person before you make a solid choice. And remember if illegal tactics were taken to enlist these vot- ers, what will they do once they have control of our Town? Just a few things to ponder and remember CHARACTER IS WHERE IT'S AT. They were selling hand Ameri- can Flags, pins, and bracelets dur- ing the Memorial Day weekend. The funds help with the camporees, Scout Expos to earn their merit badges, and Webelo Day camps. In June, the Boy Scouts will be attending a week at Camp Levi Levi in Kingman. We would also like to thank those who have donated to our fund raising.
