June 13, 2012 Quartzsite, AZ - The Little Scholars' Preschool held their graduation on Thursday, May 31st, 2012, at Assem- bly of God Church in Quartzsite. We would like to thank the church for hosting the event this year. All of the preschoolers marched down the aisle to "I Think You're Wonderful" and took their respective places on the platform. Ms. Cindy's younger students sat on their pre- school carpet and the graduates took their seats. Ms. Cindy's group sang ""Good Morning" to demonstrate how they open their day at Preschool. All of the students sang and danced to three of their favorite songs: "Sing With Me Altogether", "We Sail", and "Johnny Hammer". These favorite songs were on a CD donated by our special Snowbird reader, Diane Fra- ser, of Minnesota, before she left for the season. Ms. Cindy presented each of the younger students with a new book donated by special friends of Mrs. DeHaven from California, Bill and Jacque Gaumer. When the Gaumers visited the Preschool, they wanted to do something special for the children, so the teachers thought that nice books would be great for each child. After the younger students took their seats with their parents, the gradu- ates continued leading the group with the Pledge of Allegiance and sang "This Land Is Your Land". They recited the following in English and Spanish: color words, days, months, and counting 1-20. They also stood www.DesertMessenger.com Little Scholars' Preschool graduate and counted proudly from 1-100. Mrs. DeHaven and Mrs. Berenice have enjoyed watching the students learn so much each day while we "play"! Mrs. DeHaven read the graduates a special book "To Be a Kid" before they received their certifi cates of achieve- ment and goodie bags. After a lot of picture taking opportunities, the graduates marched to the back of the church to "I Think You're Wonderful" and enjoyed their cake and punch in the fellowship hall. Thank you to Mrs. Jill Schultz and Tommy for bringing our cake, Ruben Martinez for serving the cake, and Lonnie Rogers for helping load our "stuff" after the ceremony. I appreciate the opportunity that Scholars Academy, First Things First, and Quality First has given me to serve the preschoolers in Quartzsite these past two years. Lisa DeHaven, Director of Little Scholars Preschool ELECTION FROM PAGE 1 people that are living in outlining areas and claiming they're living in town." La Paz County Recorder, Shelly Bak- er said in a press release, "The inves- tigators have been in contact with our offi ce and we are assisting them in un- derstanding the voter registration and early voting process and we have ev- ery confi dence that the investigation will conclude that the election was handled properly and professionally." She said persons who have questions or concerns about the voting process are welcome to call her offi ce at 928- 669-6136. In a press release issued by Veder- man, La Paz County Attorney Sam Vederman said he's reviewing the actions taken by the council at the meeting, asking "that all citizens re- main calm and engage in respectful discourse while the review process oc- curs." However, Vederman stated last year he declined to charge Foster with a felony partially due to the political climate in Quartzsite.
