There are also several rock art sites found within the Estrella Mountain Park that are ac- cessible to the public only by a ranger-led hike. While at first glance Phoenix seems to be noth- ing more than a hectic modern day metropolis, with some preparation and willingness to ex- plore, an abundance of ancient treasures can be discovered. While some sites may require hiking or 4 wheel drive to access, there are sev- eral sites, like the Deer Valley Petroglyph site and the Temple Mounds in Mesa, that are lo- cated right in the city and are easily accessed by a short drive in any type of vehicle. So, the next time you take a trip to Phoenix, whether for busi- ness or pleasure, take some extra time to get out of the bustle of the city and explore the beauti- ful Mountain Preserves and other cultural sites. You will be richly rewarded. RocksInMyHead carries a great selection of books on rock art and Native American culture. Regarding expressing anger; from the American Psychological Association: "Psy- chologists now say that this is a danger- ous myth. Some people use this theory as a license to hurt others. Research has found that "letting it rip" with anger actu- ally escalates anger and aggression and does nothing to help you (or the person you're angry with) resolve the situation."
