Phi Kappa Psi Nominate a brother to be spotlighted by e-mailing ohdeltaalumni@gmail.com. n 3 uy Spriggs '71 joined Phi Kappa Psi more than 40 years ago, and now as an alumnus, he still sees Ohio Delta as an important part of his life and who he is today. "Seeing the image of Phi Psi at Ohio State grow and develop is a very strong remembrance of mine," Guy says. "The actions I take now with my career path and family are things that were influenced by my time in Phi Psi and the great people I met there." During his undergraduate years at Phi Psi, Guy started building his social network and learning from the role models he met there. After graduating in 1974 with a degree in finance, he got involved with his family business as a wine salesman. Shortly after getting involved with the family business, Guy founded Eagle Distributing in Kentucky. Now, he serves as the chairman of the board of directors and is a partner in Triple Crown Beverage Group. In addition to his career, Guy is involved with charitable organizations, including the Spriggs Family Foundation and the Guy Spriggs Charitable Trust. comfort, and made-to-order omelets. (These poor kids never get to the Blue Danube!) 11/7/15: Trustees give President Drake a raise and bonus. The bonus was $200,000. His salary is $1.2 million. (There is, apparently, no truth in the rumor that he has never been seen on campus.) 11/12/15: OSU is selling beer and wine throughout the entire basketball arena for all games, as well as the Club Section at the stadium. (Any bets when sales will be stadium-wide? Remember, they need the $$$.) 11/17/15: Security measures have been amped up at the stadium. Everything must be in clear bags— no backpacks are admitted. See ohiostatebuckeyes. com/gameday. Also, all coats must be opened when entering basketball games. 11/17/15: OSU has filed an objection to the use of "The Shoe" by the Horseshoe Cincinnati Casino. The Enterprise also owns trademarks for Brutus, Block O, the name Urban Meyer, and the phrase "Urban Meyer Knows." 12/1/15: Payroll for the 14 Ohio public universities grew by $1.4 billion in the past decade (40%). Administrative jobs grew by 25%. Salaries for vice presidents, deans, and administrators swelled. 1/15/16: The Enterprise and Nike inked a 20-year $252 million deal. It was reported that some scholarships and apparel would even go to non-athlete students, verification pending. Also, proudly, the contract was $2 million more than the U of Texas! 1/16/16: John Wolfe donated $5 million to the Athletic Department. It is now the Wolfe-Smith Athletic Directorship. 2/17/16: Our new Alumni Association president is James E. Smith, a veteran of the sports-marketing business, most recently with the Atlanta Falcons. 2/26/16: The Enterprise is seeking bids to lease the rights to operate its energy systems. The lease would raise a large lump sum, as did the sale of the parking rights. Opinion seems to divide along the lines of Trustees and administrators, and everyone else. inety-seven alumni and undergraduates from seven local Chapters descended on the Columbus Hofbrauhaus on Friday, February 19, at 6 p.m. for a lively evening of authentic German craft bier and camaraderie. Brother Jim Boyle, Washington Alpha '88, Executive VP of our National Fraternity, was our honored guest and featured speaker. GPs and alumni from Ohio Delta, Alpha, Omicron, Mu, Theta, Beta, and Kentucky Beta gave brief summaries of Chapter accomplishments. Brother Guy Spriggs '71 of our National Endowment was a distinguished guest as well. Thanks go out to our organizing committee for a job well done. The Columbus Area Alumni Association is currently accepting mentors for undergraduates of our area Chapters. This is an opportunity for undergraduates to interface with distinguished alumni in a personal one-to-one manner to build career skills and awareness of key elements of professional success. We encourage Chapter advisors and GPs to contact Brother National VP Jim Boyle, Washington Alpha '88, speaking at Founders' Day on February 19.
