The Buckeye Phi Psi 2 n Visit http://ohiodelta.com to stay current with the Chapter. s advertised, Homecoming was held October 9, 2015, at the Scioto Country Club, which is always a nice venue. Greg Wittstock '89 was the entertaining speaker. Greg has developed a multi-state landscaping company and is one of our strong supporters. Along with Greg's talk, another highlight was the reappearance of my big brother and pledge trainer, Dick Winegarner '59. Dick disappeared to California after obtaining his engineering degree. It was great catching up and sharing memories of the great May Day parties at his family's home in Worthington. Another special event was the presentation of $101,000 in scholarships to many undergraduate members. I met last fall with Lee Fuller from the Fraternity Foundation. Lee is an Ohio University Phi Psi and a very affable fellow. We talked about the fraternity's emphasis on developing leadership traits and the importance of funding the Educational Leadership Conferences. Once again, I suggest that you make gifts to the leadership efforts or to the Foundation for the benefit of Ohio Delta. Most gifts should be tax deductible. You can contact Lee or Ben Nicol, CEO of the Foundation at National Headquarters, at (317) 275-3400. Or you could also talk with either of our Ohio Delta brothers who are on the National Foundation Board, Fred Hegele '63 (fred@ hegele.com) or Guy Spriggs '71 (kybudguy@ eagleky.com). It is an investment in some of our best people. There is great merit in encouraging lifetime friendships and associations. The 11/10/15 Dispatch reported that our Virginia Alpha Chapter (UVA) has joined in the $25 million suit for defamation filed by three fraternity members and an associate dean of UVA against Rolling Stone magazine. The issues of course surround the apparently egregious reporting of a false story about a rape involving several of the members. These are strange times with every vilification receiving widespread coverage and social reaction. CHAPTER ETERNAL J. Richard "Dick" Bull '43, age 91, entered Chapter Eternal in February. Dick was a graduate of West High School and The Ohio State University and received a degree in radio-journalism. Dick was a B-24 pilot, 7th Air Force, in World War II. He retired in 1989 after 36 years with Nationwide Insurance as vice president of public relations. He served on boards of CAPA, Franklin County United Way, Ballet Met, American Red Cross, Ohio Insurance Institute, and various public relations and insurance associations. He was part of First Community Church as a governing board member. Dick was a charter member of Upper Arlington Rotary Club, member of Scioto Country Club, and Ohio State Golf Club. He was active in the Upper Arlington Civic Association and chaired the 1964 July Fourth Parade. Dick was also a very fine gentleman. John Wiseman '69 is Dick's nephew. Donald W. Wiper Jr. '50 of Granville, retired managing partner of Squire, Sanders and Dempsey of Columbus and public law attorney, entered Chapter Eternal on September 24, 2015, at age 84. Don was very active in alumni activities. He was a graduate of North High School, played football at OSU, and was editor of the OSU Law School "Law Review." Don served two years in the USAF. He was with Squire, Sanders and Dempsey for 25 years and established their Columbus office. Don was a fine gentleman. Pete W. Minges '59 entered Chapter Eternal on July 20, 2015. He was a beloved husband, a cherished father of four, and a devoted grandfather of 11. Frank C. eisen, D.D.S. '60, age 75, of Leawood, Kan., entered Chapter Eternal on October 27, 2015. Frank was an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He received his undergraduate and dental degrees from OSU. One week after receiving his D.D.S. degree in 1964, Frank joined the Army. After a tour in Vietnam, he completed a prestigious oral surgery residency program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He stayed in the Army Reserves, retiring as a full colonel after 23 years of service. He taught at the UMKC School of Dentistry, as well as in a private practice. For several years, John Gray '60 and Frank were roommates in the house and they remained close over the years. John and his wife were able to visit with Frank and his family several days before he died and attended his funeral. Frank's father was also a Phi Psi. Frank was my era in school. He was a fine undergraduate Phi Psi and obviously continued that as an Army officer, surgeon, family man, and citizen. As a final gesture, Frank made a very nice bequest to Ohio Delta through the Endowment Fund. Randy C. Ingold '67 entered Chapter Eternal on October 10, 2015. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served two years. He worked for NCR in Cleveland, Ohio, before his employment at The Ohio State University in 1972. Randy loved Ohio State football; he served as a team manager during his college years and started a scholarship fund for football managers. Randy was the recipient of the Mershon Distinguished Alumni Award for service to The Ohio State University. Randy was on the golf team at North Canton Hoover High School, was the coach of the golf team at Ohio State Newark, and had a lifelong love of playing golf. Randy served as a board member and president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Licking and Perry Counties. Those reported as deceased in The Shield are: James B. Crowther '47, Donald L. Huffman '44, Timothy J. Ledvina '69, Frank R. Middaugh '43, and Craig P. Miller '71. More News from "The Enterprise" From various news reports, we learned the following: 6/15/15: John Wolfe sold the Dispatch and some related assets to New Media Investment Group for $47 million. 8/11/15: OSU Provost Joseph Steinmetz was a finalist to be the president of the U of Iowa. In 2013, he made $348,418. (Got to keep those salaries in check!) 8/28/15: OSU Trustees were to vote for less free-wheeling top salaries after a decade of rapid growth (must be students can't borrow as much?). But salaries would remain among the highest in the country. Our competition is the Big Ten and the Ivies. 11/3/15: The new dining facility on North Campus, Traditions at Scott, is 28,000 square feet with 11 cooking stations, offering a diversity of foods, including Mongolian, Brazilian, American From Here and There Alumni News Collected by Craig Stewart '61 A
