Spring 2016 The Sunflower A publicAtion of the KAnSAS chApter of DeltA upSilon INSIDE: 2016 Distinguished alumni 2-3 Loyal Alumni 2-3 alumni banquet 4 Connect with Kansas DU Online 4 Kansas DU Reorganization Status Update Positive Changes Made to Structure of Chapter O ver the past several months, we have been inspired by our alumni's love for Kansas DU and desire to support our Chapter. Your words of encouragement and support have helped us begin the process of learning, growing, and planning for the future of the Kansas Chapter. There are some exciting, positive developments that we would like to share as our Chapter continues its reorganization. The members attended a "Building Better Men" retreat with a DU International representative where they revisited the DU founding principles and how those should be implemented in Chapter operations, their daily activities, and their character. The men also had an all-Chapter retreat to develop tighter bonds among the members. The new Chapter officers are doing an excellent job. In addition, we have created an alumni adviser team to cover the eight key undergraduate officer positions. The alumni will provide their experiences to make sure things are done the "DU way." There are a few spots still available if your are intersted in volunteering. Please contact Eric Gustavson, Grant Kaufman, or Jeff Wilcox. One other change as part of all this is that Judy Carpenter, our housemother of the last nine years, will be moving on. Judy has been a tireless worker and we thank her for her many years of service. She will be missed. The PMC has a search underway for a new housemother and is conducting interviews. The alumni who have been involved in this reorganization feel very positive about the members we have in place and the future of Kansas DU. Getting to the point of reorganization was disappointing to all of us. Times of hardship are when we need our alumni the most. We hope you join us in the firm belief that the recent events do not define Kansas DU or our experience. Now, more than ever, we encourage you to continue supporting Delta Upsilon. Should you have any questions, please contact one of us.
