PRIDE IN OUR PAST, SECURING OUR FUTURE 4 E verything is starting to come together. We have broken ground at #3 Fraternity Row, our capital campaign is nearing completion, and it's never been a better time to be a Beta Eta. As the new Chapter House becomes a reality, Jeff Steinhart '76, BH583 reflects on what motivated him to contribute to the Pride in Our Past, Securing Our Future campaign, which, most importantly, ensures that the TKE legacy continues at MS&T. Jeff knew from day one that he wanted to support the initiative for the new Chapter House. "I wanted to help jumpstart the campaign and ensure the same opportunities I had as an undergraduate are there for a new generation." He understands that in order for the legacy of Beta Eta to continue, a new house is a vital part of that process. "Now that the groundbreaking has taken place, we can really see the house becoming a reality. Hopefully everyone will join in supporting this worthwhile cause." Many of the opportunities and experiences Jeff had in TKE as an undergraduate have impacted who he is today. "My experiences in Beta Eta definitely helped me become a more well-rounded individual and prepared me for life after college." The friendships he built in the Chapter have also lasted throughout the changes of life. "The relationships we made and the brotherhood of TKE lasts for a lifetime. The network of TKE alumni is one of the most valuable resources we have." Jeff and his wife, Mary, live in St. Louis, where he works as a consultant in business and engineering. Prior to his current position, Jeff worked at Anheuser Busch for 29 years. He and Mary have three sons: Brandon, Trevor, and Geoffrey. You can connect with Jeff at jeffsteinhart1@aol.com. WHEN IDEAS BECOME REALITY Why Jeff Steinhart '76, BH583 Supports TKE Keeping Our Legacy Strong Dean Lindstrom '76, BH567 Encourages Others to Give A s Greek life at MS&T continues to grow, competition for attracting the best and brightest members has only increased. The need for an excellent Chapter House and strong membership is vital to Beta Eta's continued success. That is why Dean Lindstrom '76, BH567 chose to support the Pride in Our Past, Securing Our Future campaign. "There was never any doubt that I wanted to contribute as much as I could," shares Dean. "I knew we needed a new Chapter House. It was obvious that the current house had physically reached the end of its life." He notes that the new house will be an important step in keeping the Beta Eta legacy strong at MS&T. "Beta Eta has the potential to be the top fraternity on campus and develop the next leaders of our society. It's our responsibility to help them achieve that goal." Much of what motivated Dean to contribute were the memories and friendships he gained through TKE. "The brotherhood of Beta Eta is a connection that lasts forever. It is a closer connection than any other we experience in our lives." He sees the campaign as an opportunity to give back to the fraternity that has given him so much. "During school, my contributions were all about time. Now, I don't have much time, but I am able to contribute financially." The campaign has helped Dean renew many connections with his fellow Tekes. "The Beta Eta brotherhood is about being a family. Even though we've all moved on with our lives, I could pick up the phone and pick up right where we left off." He hopes others will take this opportunity to renew their own connections and support the Chapter. Dean is the president of Novar, a division of Honeywell that provides technology management for commercial buildings and retailers. He and his wife, Sandra, live in Fairlawn, Ohio, and have two daughters, Dessa and Paige. You can connect with Dean at dean.lindstrom@novar.com.
