The Iowa DelTa RepoRT 3 Undergraduates made blankets for ALS patients with Sarah Martin, the founder of Sarah's Mission. Marcus Loffredo, Nick Baker, and Calvin Daack at the annual Drake Street Painting. AND NOW…A WORD FROM YOUR SPONSOR Dr. Janet McMahill Proud of Undergraduates A s I continue to work with the men of the colony of Phi Delta Theta, I am impressed with the gentlemen and their commitment to academic excellence and service. On top of academic excellence, the men have a long list of extracurricular activities, including involvement in honorary societies, athletic clubs, choirs, Student Senate, and the Student Alumni Association. I thought you would enjoy reading more about each of them and the impressive career paths they pursue. From Iowa, we have several members. Senior Jordan Foote of Afton is majoring in marketing and junior Mitchell Kirby is an accounting and informational systems major. From Johnston, we have Joseph Buising, an advertising major with a graphic design minor, and Jason Kane, a finance major. Brennan Haymon studies public relations and international relations and senior Robert Jedicka of Solon studies pharmacy. Calvin Daack of Dubuque graduated last month with a 4.0 GPA in neuroscience! Going east, we have a major delegation from Illinois, including Phi Delta Theta president-elect Trevor Matusik. This junior studying data analytics and finance also serves as treasurer of Student Senate. Richard Serrano of Peoria is a pharmacy major and Jeffrey Jones is a business management major from Wheaton. Brody Rothert, a sophomore from Carthage, is a finance and management major who is involved on campus as the president of Drake Off-Campus. Marcus Loffredo is a finance major and serves as president of the weightlifting club and powerlifting club. Senior physics and mathematics major Sean Buczek is a member of the Drake Track and Field team. Sophomore Matthew Malmberg of Round Lake, Ill., is a physics major with a writing minor. Illinois also brings us health science major Taylor Gartshore, biology major Daniel Hong, and pharmacy major Michael Lang. Six fellows came from Minnesota and Wisconsin to get warm! We welcome Sam Hehir, Peter Farley, Ben Williamson, Ryan Wiskerchen, Jason Rohloff, and Geoffrey Daley. Sam, a junior actuarial science and data analytics student is co-president of Gamma Iota Sigma. A senior from West St. Paul, Minn., Peter studies marketing and has mentored international students for three semesters. Health science and finance major Ben is Phi Delta Theta's new recruitment chairman. Ryan, a junior from Minneapolis, keeps busy as a history and international relations major working toward his German certificate. Jason is a history major with a politics minor and Geoffrey Daley studies TV/ radio production with a minor in business studies. Missouri members include Jeremy Tyler Barber, a business management student from St. Joseph, and Kyle Grossman from Chesterfield, an actuarial science major with a data analytics minor. Jeremy works in the School of Education Curriculum Library, while Kyle is the treasurer for Drake Hillel. Other Midwestern members come from Kansas and Nebraska: David Sherbondy and Nicholas Baker. David is a senior environmental science major from Overland Park. Nick is a senior from Omaha studying marketing and vocal music. Nick is the first president of the newly formed Iowa Delta colony and president of Drake's American Marketing Association. For well over a year, Nick has devoted many hours working with colony members, the executive committee, members of the Housing Corporation, Phi Delt International, and yours truly. We all owe a special thanks to Nick. Our California brother is Sarvelio (Anthony) Hernandez, a senior accounting major with a marketing minor. Our first international member is Stanley Ng from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Stanley is a junior studying actuarial science and computer science. These gentlemen are active in their majors and a wide variety of campus organizations. And the final point of pride? They are working to improve the overall chapter GPA, which is 3.12 as as of January. There are no members on academic probation at Drake, and three have earned 4.0 GPAs. Thirteen others have well above a 3.0. New officers are in place, and everyone is laser-focused on recruitment during the next four months.
