Page 6 www.DesertMessenger.com Quartzsite Community Thrift Store donates to several organizations By Joanne Winer The board of directors of the Quartz- site Community Thrift Store (QCTS) met recently, and voted to help sev- eral different organizations who are helping the community. The store has been very fortunate to be able to raise these much needed funds through the generous donations of the community, and also thanks to the customers who purchase them in the store. The recipients of the funds for this month voted on by the board members were the Quartzsite Food Bank, the Quartzsite Senior Citiizens Center, the Quartzsite Alliance Church Camp fund, and Isaiah 58 Project. The funds will be used for getting more kids to camp this summers, helping with emergency food, stocking the food bank, and for lunches at the senior center. "We feel that these are all very worthy uses of our funds, and we are really happy that we have been able to give to each of them this month, especially with the hot weather coming and the store not being as busy now that most people have left." said one board member. They are hoping that the store still gets people shopping through the summer so they will be able to give out more each month. The store is now on summer hours and is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Do- nations are accepted during business hours, or you can call Jini Dill at 927- 6039 to make arrangements if the store is not open. If you need things picked up, or have things left over from a yard sale, you can also reach Jini at 928- 916-7338.
