KanSaS BEta PAGE 3 CARRYING ON THE TRADITION Brothers Reflect on Kansas Beta Experiences Undergraduates Put the Pedal to the Metal in Recruitment and Philanthropy T he men of Kansas Beta had a fantastic start to the spring semester and we are excited for what this year has in store. We plan to build on our successes from last fall and continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of our Fraternity. Kansas Beta Initiates 11 Members SigEp welcomed 11 new members this spring, bringing our pledge class membership to 36 brothers. Fall recruitment has already begun and we are eager to increase our membership. New Leadership Boosts Chapter Morale Our new executive board is filled with enthusiastic and creative members who bring meaningful change to our Chapter. We hope to build on last semester's programming success with fresh, new ideas. Undergraduates Set Plans in Motion for Philanthropic Success We are excited for our two benefit concerts this spring and we hope to achieve of our goal of raising $3,000 to donate to our national philanthropy, Big Brothers Big Sisters. SigEp paired with the women of Alpha Delta Pi for the Live Your Oath event to raise awareness of sexual assault on college campuses. We plan to host another event where members of the community come to learn more about the epidemic plaguing universities across the nation. Fostering a Culture of Excellence There is a high level of morale in Kansas Beta and members are excited to be a part of a thriving Fraternity. We have worked hard to create a positive environment and bring the culture within our Chapter to new heights. Kansas Beta wouldn't be where it is today without your tireless dedication to making our Chapter one of the best. The future of Kansas Beta is right around the corner, and it is bright. Fraternally, Carson Lilley '18 Chapter President carson.lilley@yahoo.com SigEp Nationals partnered with Alpha Delta Pi to help end sexual assault on college campuses. The Live Your Oath campaign has become an annual event in which members from both chapters take an oath to prevent sexual assault through bystander intervention and personal accountability. " " " " " " L ast fall, I asked new members why they joined SigEp and I received some interesting responses: We initiated 21 members last fall and it is my hope that the men of Kansas Beta will continue to recruit promising individuals who will lead the Chapter on a path to success. "I joined SigEp to get more involved on campus and create lifelong friendships." "SigEp gives you the opportunity to lead an organization of 85 members, manage a significant operating budget, and hold brothers accountable to the Fraternity's values." "Kansas Beta offers a multitude of leadership opportunities that will benefit me in my future professional endeavors." Chapter Ranks High in Academics for Fourth Consecutive Year Kansas Beta secured a 3.22 GPA last fall and we aim to improve our grades this year. SigEp has placed in the top tier among all K-State fraternities the last four years, and we are proud of our members' commitment to academics. Members Assess the Need for New Housemother Although our Chapter has been without a housemother since last fall, the upperclassmen have demonstrated tremendous leadership in maintaining Chapter House operations. We are fortunate to have former Chapter President Tyler Struckhoff '15 volunteer for Kansas Beta and carry out many of these responsibilities. The AVC welcomes any suggestions for a new housemother. If you know someone who is interested in being an asset to our Chapter, please have them contact me. If you are ever in Manhattan, I encourage you to visit the Chapter House. Our members will give you a tour of the property and you'll see that we have a great group of men who strive to carry on the Kansas Beta legacy. Fraternally, Pat Pesci '91 Chapter Advisor (785) 532-2210
