New to Quartzsite, Jodi wasted no time searching out the arts, becoming Vice President of the Quartzsite Art Guild, showing her work in the Quartzsite Art Guild's South- western Roundup Art Show, and winning a ribbon. Jodi displays her work in a booth at Tyson Wells Art and Craft Fair and will also be showing at the Gold Show. Be sure to visit Jodi in her booth. Being a plein air artist you may just find she can paint your RV in our desert setting as a souvenir to take home, make into your Christmas card or a gift for a special friend. Jodi always loved drawing and coloring. Visiting her grandpar- ents on the farm she spent quiet hours observing her surroundings; simple things such as grass, clouds, chickens waltzing in the barnyard. As an adult Jodi worked for Olan Mills in the corporate office. Yet her art continued through carica- tures of her supervisors and com- missions of people's homes. Spotlight Artist Though largely self taught, she studied art at Chattanooga State Technical Institute. Having her own Studio and Gallery in Chat- tanooga she entered into various juried art shows receiving many awards. She settling in Deming New Mexico on a ranch she and hus- band Don purchased after retire- ment. Exploring ghost towns and deserted roads, Jodi set out to paint places seldom seen. Detail oriented, Jodi now em- braces an impressionistic style of painting, using mainly a pallet knife, giving her work texture. On the road showing Jodi's work we are pleased to have her here in Quartzsite becoming a friend to our community. For more information, visit http://jodimurphystudio.com
