Jim was a partner in Gilliam and Evans Law Firm in Chesterfield, Virginia. He was a proud member of Psi of Sigma Chi who talked with many of his Fraternity Brothers every week. Jim was a very active member in his community, serving on numerous boards including ALUMNI UPDATE (Continued on page 6) I t is hard to believe that two decades have passed since most of this group originally came to know one another as newly initiated Brothers of Sigma Chi. Over the years, we have found many opportunities to connect, relive, and expand the friendships formed at 608 Preston Place. Bachelor parties, weddings, reunions, and beyond have brought us together intermittently, but it is a particular late summer ritual that has consistently served as the glue reinforcing our bond now for over fifteen years—The Damn We Miss Poindexter FanTASTY Football League (DWMPFFL). Why Poindexter? Anthony Poindexter was, and is, the man. He is a former safety in the NFL and played at U.Va., where he earned All- American honors. We certainly missed him playing for our Cavaliers when the league was formed. Why FanTASTY? It was a typo on this commissioner's original draft board that was funny...still is, so we kept it! The DWMPFFL quickly gained momentum and our destination draft weekends have become legendary. Today, we have fourteen teams with twenty-one owners who look forward to convening somewhere in the country every year in late August. Choice of draft location has become a virtual contact sport with countless e-mails exchanged during the on-going off-season debate, but we somehow agree on a location each year. Although questionable by witnessing our draft weekends, we have indeed become wiser over time. With nearly all of us now reaching or nearing forty years of age, we thought it was about time to collectively give back. In appreciation of the Chapter House that brought us together, we are contributing a portion of our annual league dues to the Psi of Sigma Chi Capital Campaign and challenge others to do the same. We say thank you to those Brothers who have continued to uphold the values that and keep us connected. We plan on giving each year and would encourage any other Psi groups that come together like ours to do the same. In hoc, Chris Accashian '97
