A s our chapter continues to grow, we have put a new focus on getting to know each other better, and we recently had an all-chapter retreat to help us do this. We continue to welcome our new members and teach them about our sisterhood and the overall sorority experience by showing them how our older members exemplify our five membership standards and encouraging them to do the same. PHILANTHROPY EVENTS SUPPORT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS This semester, our main philanthropy event was a sno cone sale on campus in September. We used the slogan "Say 'Sno' to Domestic Violence," and in exchange for a $1 donation to The Willow Domestic Violence Center, we gave people sno cones. The entire chapter participated, and we raised $930 in two days. October was Domestic Violence Awareness month, so a volunteer from The Willow Domestic Violence Center came to speak to our members to educate us more on the topic of domestic violence and to explain how the fundraising and various community service events we host benefit the women and children at the center. CHAPTER ACTIVITIES AXΩ is partnered with Phi Kappa Psi for this year's Rock Chalk Revue, and members of both organizations are extremely excited for the year. In September, we had an all-chapter retreat with a goal-setting discussion and two workshops (one on being financially responsible and one on healthy relationships). Our new members were handpicked out of all 12 Panhellenic sororities to attend a presentation hosted by Delta Chi about making first impressions. Leah Janes '14 attended a leadership conference called KUnity in October, where members of all four Greek councils came together and discussed different topics about how to unite the entire community. COLLEGIANS HOST ALUMNAE AND PARENTS During Polish Week, we hosted a mock recruitment event and invited parents, friends, and alumnae to see our skit and tour the house. This helped us prepare for recruitment, and we would like to thank everyone who attended. This semester, we hosted our annual event for KU parents' weekend, and in September, we hosted our family day tailgate on the hill for the football game against Memphis. We are so thankful for our Parents' Club for organizing such a successful event! (Special thanks to Christine Biel, our Parents' Club chairman!) We appreciate the support we receive from both our parents and our alumnae, and we enjoy having the opportunity to involve them in our events. We can't wait to keep getting involved on our campus and in our community as we grow and represent Alpha Chi Omega in a positive light. We thank our alumnae so much for your support, and, as always, invite you to drop by the house to visit us and see what's going on in our chapter.
