Art Guild to meet Quartzsite Desert Singles meet at the QIA every Friday at 10am for a short meeting. Then we go to different interesting places and have a cook-out. Join us and meet new friends. Desert Singles meet Salome High School students and staff continue to stay productive as the holidays arrive. Student ath- letes have been hard at work pre- paring for the upcoming basketball season. Mr. Sharboneau, the head coach for the boys team, says he is excited to get the season going and believes that the frogs are in for a good season. Mr. Schuldt, the head coach for the girls, has been wait- ing anxiously for basketball season to arrive. Both teams are excited for the upcoming scrimmage on November 19th against Gila Bend which will be held at the high school, varsity girls playing at 5 and varsity boys playing at 6:30. The first offi- cial game is also a home game and will be on November 24th against NFL Yet, with only varsity girls playing at 7. Please make sure to come out to watch and support the frogs this basketball season! The award ceremony and banquet honoring the fall athletes was held on November 10th, where student athletes were recognized for their talent and commitment. For vol- leyball, Esme Cruz was given the "Serving Standout" award, Moriah Salome High News Freedman was given the "Most Im- proved" award, Stephanie Claytor received the "Love of the Game" award for dedication, and Jacquelin Harold received the "Coach's Award" for sportsmanship. As for football, Ryan Guerrero was awarded with the "Ironman award" for attending summer workouts, Bryan Mendoza was given "Most Improved", Jared Wolfe was given "Offensive Player of the Year", and Joel Freedman was given "Defensive Player of the Year". Other players were com- mended for their participation and received varsity letters. The school's clubs have been busy also. The lettermen's club has been planning and organizing the lettermen's basketball tournament for the local elementary schools to participate in along with recently enjoying a trip to a Phoenix Sun's game. Student Council organized a dinner that took place November 13th to raise money for their annual leadership convention in January. FBLA recently attending the annual FLEX (Fall Leadership Extravagan- za) conference. There, students lis- tened to motivational speakers and attended different workshops on leadership, life skills, scholarship and college application, and many others. The Market will be open Wednesdays from 10am - 2pm through mid-March. Space rent for the market is only $15/day.
