The Desert Flyers is a club with about 100 members who enjoy the experience and friendship of flying their radio controlled air- planes. We meet daily, each morning, weather permitting at the James B. Colwell Field lo- cated at 780 N. Plymouth Road in Quartzsite. The James B. Colwell Field was named by the town after one of our founding and prominent members. It has a 500 ft. paved runway, a covered shelter used as a windbreak and as a work station, 15 outside workstations, and 4 flight stations. Our monthly business meeting is held the second Wednesday of each month at Jimmy's hangar 1365 Datig Drive at 9am. Membership fees are $10 and membership in the A.M.A. (Academy of Model Aeronautics.)
