Theta Techsan Kappa Alpha Theta • Gamma Phi Chapter • Texas Tech University Fall 2015 T hank you to all alumnae who have generously contributed to the Linked Together… Building for Tomorrow capital campaign! We are thrilled to report that we have reached our initial fundraising goal for the renovation project. Thanks to the generosity of 289 Gamma Phi sisters and friends, we have raised $1,142,695! We all know that Thetas not only achieve all goals, but exceed them. CAMPAIGN GOAL INCREASED TO $1.4 MILLION The campaign board has decided to continue with this positive momentum and strive for a new objective, $1.4 million, given that our project cost has exceeded the original estimate. Some of the unexpected increases are: state of the art heating/cooling system (which will save money down the road), concrete slab and flat work, dirt work, and elevator/shaft expenses. The renovation project includes a brand new first and second floor facility constructed on top of the original basement. Both original basement staircases were able to be utilized! Highlights of the new lodge include a spacious chapter room, large modernized kitchen and serving area complete with beautiful appliances, three separate bathroom areas with a total of nine stalls, specified study areas including a library and computer lab, beautifully appointed living areas and recruiting space, audio visual/data cabling/security system, and most important, a new fire safety system to comply with code. This endeavor will offer a premier facility to our outstanding undergraduate Theta women and (Continued on page 8) Campaign Goal Increased: $1.4 Million Within Reach Generous Sister Issues $100,000 Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Gift Challenge I wanted to help with the building of the new lodge originally, but after my daughter Thought Theta this fall, my husband and I were really inspired to give more. On bid day, all of my memories flooded back and I was overwhelmed, and for my daughter to carry on the Theta legacy at Texas Tech is so special not only to me, but also to my sisters who were Thetas at Tech. I encourage everyone who can to give, no matter what amount, to the campaign and to reconnect and be a part of this wonderful group again. It really does feel like coming home.
