With the help of a strong new pledge class, the chapter looks constantly to improve our recruitment, academics, and philanthropic efforts. We continue to work toward our chapter goals of becoming a leader on campus, throughout the international fraternity, and in the community. Excelling in all of these areas will help us to further the tradition of excellence in the chapter. RECRUITMENT The recruitment team, as well as the chapter, worked hard this summer to bring a new pledge class that displayed leadership in academics, involvement, and commitment. We instituted new recruitment standards that allow us to select the best recruits who fit within the values of our fraternity. We successfully recruited 32 men to join us, 26 of whom are living in the Shelter. Throughout the academic year, we plan to continue our recruitment strategy to find new qualified men year-round. ACADEMICS This spring, we started various initiatives to help improve the chapter GPA. This included academic teams based on major, academic contracts, and tutoring programs with upperclassmen. We finished with a 3.11 GPA, exceeding the Greek all-male average. This was a decline from our previous chapter GPA, but we hope that with the aid of these programs we will be able to continue to improve our GPA this semester and into the future. PHILANTHROPY At the end of the spring semester, we had our annual MASH philanthropy, which was a major success. We raised $11,500 for the Wounded Warrior Project. This semester, we plan to continue our philanthropic success with a focus on the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We hope to do this through participation in the Lincoln JDRF Walk, as well as hosting our own philanthropy event to educate the campus and community on juvenile diabetes. The undergraduate brothers of Beta Tau are excited for our new pledge class and for the upcoming year. We will continue working toward our goals with the assistance of alumni, the international fraternity, and the community. With this support, we can achieve these goals and strive toward lives of excellence.
