These are crucial elements to possess when you venture out on your own after college," shared Donna Roberts '82. At the age of 51, Donna followed her passion and became an author. "Milestone birthdays have a way of waking you up. I knew that if I did not try to follow my true passion, I would regret it. Life is too short to be earning a living in a field that provides no sustenance for your soul." Her first novel, Frayed, was released in spring 2015. Frayed is the story of group of women who seem to have little in common, other than their love for playing tennis. Their diverse personalities interact for a story that evokes all sorts of emotions. "People are fascinating to me. I wanted to explore a group of characters that were uniquely different and slightly dysfunctional, because let's face it, that's realistic." For Donna, Alpha Gam gave her the opportunity to succeed. "When you leave home for college at the tender age of 18, you feel excited but uprooted. My experience at Psi Chapter not only provided new roots and a much-needed foundation, but also introduced me to some amazing young women, many of whom are still close friends today. "To me, success in life, whether personal or professional, resides in the intangible. Success should be measured by how you handle your daily journey through this world. If you maintain your integrity, remain kind and compassionate, work hard, encourage others, keep your priorities in line, laugh with others and don't take yourself too seriously, then you've achieved tremendous success." Donna and several members of her pledge class get together annually to catch up and share their lives. This is a tradition that has gone on for the past 20 years. When she is not writing or spending time with her sorority sisters, she enjoys playing tennis and reading compelling fiction novels. She will be selling copies of Frayed at the chapter house on November 7 and a portion of the proceeds will go to Psi Chapter. Frayed can also be purchased online at amazon.com. Donna can be contacted at dgrfrayed@gmail.com. Alpha Gam Provides Foundation for Success Donna Roberts '82 Follows Her Passion Alumnae News VISIT US ONLINE
