3 ALPHA GAMMA DELTA E ven though the semester has just begun, Psi Chapter is already in full swing with fall activities. We started off the semester welcoming our biggest pledge class in history with 132 phenomenal women who will thrive in Alpha Gam excellence and tradition. We could not be more thrilled with the outcome of all of our hard work throughout polish week and recruitment. New Member Educators Emma Green '13 and Katherine Cory '13 have been fabulous mentors in helping ease the freshmen transition. Our new members returned from their pledge retreat at Lake Tuscaloosa in mid-August; it was a wonderful weekend full of activities and bonding. We are excited to see how they get more involved in the chapter and on campus throughout their college careers. For the spring 2015 semester, Psi Chapter racked up several awards and honors at the 2015 Order of Omega Awards Banquet: • Most Outstanding Sorority • Most Improved GPA • Most Outstanding Sophomore, Gracie Ernstberger '13 • Greek Woman of the Year, Jordan David '11 • Most Outstanding President, Annie Newton '11 In addition to these outstanding accomplishments, the chapter as a whole has done a wonderful job with all of our philanthropy events this year. Last year, the Fifth Quarter Initiative saved and repackaged 10,768 pounds of food that provided more than 13,253 meals in Tuscaloosa and west Alabama. We also hosted our annual Threads philanthropy event. Chapter members as well as the rest of the Greek community donated used clothes and accessories and opened up a "thrift shop" in Alpha Gam. This event raised $2,460 to support IJM's efforts to end human trafficking. In addition to these efforts, our members also serve organizations in the Tuscaloosa area, including the RISE Center, ALPals, Greek Health Ambassadors, and Project Health. We also have women involved in BAMACru, Navigators, Church of the Highlands, RUF, Bloom Hillel, and multiple other campus ministries. The fall semester is always an exciting and unifying time for Psi Chapter. Alumnae, thank you for all you do. Our success would not be possible without your constant encouragement and support! We truly have the best alumnae of any chapter. If you come to a football game, please stop by the house prior to the game for a visit and a yummy meal! Please know that our doors are always open.
