The students and faculty of Salome High are getting into a groove as they enter their second month of school. The high school now has an altered schedule. The 1st six class periods are un- changed from last year. Following the release of 6th hour, students are divided into athletes and non- athletes. During this time, the stu- dent athletes have practice while the rest of the school has enrich- ment and seventh hour. Instead of running two buses, all students leave at 4pm. This new schedule benefi ts all the students. Speaking about sports, the ath- letes have been hard at work! "There are a tremendous number of girls in volleyball this year!", said volleyball Coach Anog. "We have around 30 players this year so we have two junior varsity teams. They are all ready to play and have improved tremen- dously." They won their fi rst game on September 4th against Mayer with a score of 3-1 in our favor. As for the football team, they are doing what they do best...win- Salome High School News ning! They have won three out of the four games they have played, dominating the opposing teams. Varsity won their last game 48-8 against Mayer on the 4th of Sep- tember. Junior Varsity also won their fi rst game against Bagdad at home 50-18. Coach Drotzmann is excited for the rest of the season. In other news, the Salome High School Student Council recently went to Spirit Conference on the 1st of September. Twenty-one stu- dents went to Independence High School in Glendale for the event. There was a motivational speaker for the students, as well as some performances. StuCo is currently planning spirit week for Home- coming. The Homecoming bonfi re will be on Thursday, Sept. 24th. Homecoming will be on September 25th, and we are playing Ajo. The school will also be celebrating our 60th Anniversary on Homecoming night. The Salome High School Ca- reer Fair will be on Sept. 17th. We are expecting 10 colleges, 3 recruit- ers, and a Border Patrol offi cer. Parents are welcome to attend! Salome High School's FBLA will be raising money to support the March of Dimes: March for Babies fundraiser event. They have placed March of Dimes collection boxes around at local businesses. All of the funds raised will be donated to the March of Dimes on September 12th in Prescott, AZ, at the March for Babies fundraiser event. Please help the FBLA raise money for this event.
