September 16, 2015 www.DesertMessenger.com 7 Community Thank you from volunteer THRIFT STORE Benefitting the La Paz County Animal Shelter in Parker Supported by your generous donations! 455 E. Main St. Quartzsite Open Tues. thru Sat. 9-3 928-927-4223 The Smoke Shop Open Year-Round for our local residents Thank you for your support! SEASONAL HOURS 8AM - NOON MONDAY THRU FRIDAY CLOSED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY Often we are the fi rst to complain but the last to say Thank You and express our gratitude for a job well done. As one of the 32 volunteers that were nominated for the Vol- unteer of the Year award, and on behalf of my husband, Gene who is also on the list, we want to thank whoever nomi- nated us and the community of Quartzsite for acknowledging our community service. I read over the list several times and I can tell you that each person on that list has contributed a special gift to this community and I can also tell you that most of them do it because they do it from the heart and not for recognition. Our main outreach has been to help the Quartzsite Food Bank through Covenant Lutheran Church and our wonderful congre- gation of Snowbirds and locals. Without our generous and giving church family, who constantly reach into their hearts and pocket books to help, we would not be able to do what we do. The Food Bank has been blessed by local businesses who have allowed us to put donation boxes in their locations and have also contributed goods and services of their own into the boxes. I am pleased to say that they are now joined by Fam- ily Dollar on East Main Street. We have placed "The Giving Box" there and have been encouraged by the Owner and Area Representative that they will do whatever they can to help us with donations. It is also our effort to support local busi- nesses whenever we can, instead of shopping outside of Quartzsite. It all comes back to COMMUNITY. It is a circle that goes around and comes back. We invite everyone to be part of the circle and not only shop at these wonderful business- es, who support our community needs but also help by contributing items into the boxes. Do not forget the other businesses in town and restaurants, who never say "NO" when asked for gift donations or gift certifi cates for all of the fund raising activities that go on during the year. Quartzsite is an amazing town of caring and giving folks, don't forget to say Thank You once in awhile.
