I didn't present myself very well at the council meeting Tuesday night. It's diffi cult to address a group that is made up with some, so self-centered, their minds have diffi culty getting beyond their skulls. As I'm not too steady on my feet I'm going to try and explain the point I was trying to make with my pen. You can't improve a budget by dismantling a town. The name of the game is to start slowly and reduce the small things and work your way up. To reduce staff, con- sider how they are used. It costs a lot to pull someone off the job to provide information for some per- sonal pet peeve. You may think you're legislating, but it's a child- ish form. We have people on the council who ran for offi ce to run the town their way. Now they are bewil- dered and totally not up to facing adversity. It really shows. It's ap- parent they have no time to study FREE CLASSIFIEDS Desert Messenger offers FREE Classifi ed Ads! HERE'S THE SMALL PRINT: Items for sale under $1000. Private Party Only. 1 per month. For the second time I heard a council person say, "I want to make a the motion on what that person just said." Haven't they taken time to learn the fi ner points of responsi- bility?" Are they really qualifi ed to serve? Is it possible to have a fi ve per- son council? That would cut down controversial considerations and reduce costs. And reduce fi nger pointing. If a higher law calls for seven, then it's a shame. If it's not a higher law and takes a vote of the people, I'll be the fi rst one in line. It's the registered voters who don't vote that allows unqualifi ed people through the door to power. Unfortunately I've met a few who are proud they have never voted.
