It's no surprise that this patriotic community celebrates the birthday of the United States enthusiastically with a week of special events. And LOTS of fireworks. Tonight, North Carolina Symphony performs patriotic favorites and high-spirited classics to salute the United States on its birthday. The show starts at 8 p.m. at Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville. A fireworks show closes the evening. This Friday, (July 3rd,) the Fayetteville Swampdogs offer a fireworks show following their game vs. the Holly Spring Salamanders. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Riddle Stadium. General admission tickets start at $7. On July 4th, you may have trouble deciding which event to attend! The Fayetteville Running Club starts the day with the Firecracker 4 Miler. This event takes you on a four mile course around historic downtown Fayetteville. The run starts at 7 a.m. Join residents of Hope Mills for a July 4th parade. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and runs down Main Street. At 4 p.m., a party in Hope Mills Park features vendors and live entertainment. Fireworks close the evening. The public is invited for Fort Bragg's annual July 4th Celebration. The event, which starts at 3 pm on the Main Post Parade field, will offer live performances by Nashville recording artists Randy Houser and Easton Corbin, a demonstration from USASOC's Black Daggers Parachute Team, patriotic flag ceremony and "kiddlieland." Prior to fireworks, more than 110 howitzer rounds from the 82nd Airborne Division artillery will punctuate the Salute to the 50 States and Tchaikovsky's scoring of the 1812 Overture with cannon fire.
