SPRING 2015
TIME, TALENT, AND TREASURE
Undergraduate Brothers Encourage Alumni Reconnection and Involvement
U
pon graduating from Indiana State University, we all leave Sigma
Alpha Epsilon with high hopes of keeping our fraternal bonds intact.
Unfortunately, we quickly find that many new interests—careers, families,
and civic activities—can create valid diversions. The day-to-day activities
of life take over and, before long, we fall out of touch and begin to wonder
what happened to our brothers and the active chapter. With this in mind,
our annual alumni relations program is designed to help our members stay
in touch and to cultivate awareness and involvement in Indiana Sigma.
Your undergraduate brothers have suggestions for how you may give of
your time, talent, or treasure to contribute to the success of Indiana Sigma.
Time
The undergraduate Chapter wants to get to know its alumni brothers! The
majority of the Chapter is made up of freshmen and sophomores who
have never interacted with an alumni brother outside of Homecoming. If
you would like to receive information on opportunities to connect with
undergraduate brothers, please contact the alumni chairman, Garrett
Smith '15, at gsmith52@sycamores.indstate.edu.
Talent
The Indiana Sigma Chapter is in need of your talents! We want to do
all in our power to increase our Chapter's and our individual members'
success. Indiana Sigma invites alumni to lend their expertise in the
following categories: recruitment, hazing prevention and intervention,
stress management, resume building and networking, and etiquette. If you
are able to spare 30 minutes to an hour to workshop one of these topics with
the Chapter, please reach out to our member educator, Maxx Rance '17, at
mrance1@sycamores.indstate.edu or (317) 937-1096.
Treasure
Our alumni base has been very generous to us over the years. Our ongoing
housing campaign has granted us a beautiful house that we are extremely
grateful for. We continue to have many goals that require financing and
if you are able to make a monetary donation, we would be very grateful.
Every year Indiana Sigma hosts events in an effort to raise money for the
Terre Haute Humane Society. They are building a new facility while trying
to maintain a standard of living for the rescued dogs until they are adopted.
The Chapter has raised over $3,000 this year through the events that we
have held. Our largest event, the 5k Paint Run on April 19, has been our
biggest fundraiser yet. If you would like to make a donation, please contact
Service and Philanthropy Chairman Dave Pascarella '17 at dpascarella@
sycamores.indstate.edu.
The brothers of Indiana Sigma are also raising money for a flag pole so
we may fly the American flag on top and the SAE flag directly beneath it.
Please contact our treasurer, Joe Brown '17, at jbrown189@sycamores.
indstate.edu. A donation of any size would be appreciated. All donations
are tax deductible and we are able to provide any information necessary
on your behalf.
We hope that through the Indiana Sigma's annual alumni relations program
your fraternal bonds are regularly renewed and strengthened. We are always
interested in hearing from you, so if you have any suggestions, alumni
news, or ideas for articles, please submit them to our Eminent Archon,
David Heath '17, at dheath3@sycamores.indstate.edu.
Nate Walker '15, Joe Brown '17, and Luis Rodriguez '15 enjoy a
beautiful day while they rake leaves as a community service activity.
