Schmidt '10 Today Jeff is senior technical sales manager for Rahn USA Corporation, where he sells raw materials to printing ink and coatings companies. His career path began at Sherwin Williams in their product development lab. He then worked for other paint companies, earned his MBA in 2005, and then made the move into sales. Communication and leadership are skills that Jeff credits to his involvement in Sigma Pi. "Working with people together in teams to achieve goals is something that I learned and developed during my time with the fraternity," Jeff said. "I am more confident and a much better communicator because of my experiences." Jeff encourages the members of the chapter to focus on developing relationships. "Everything in this world revolves around relationships with others. If you are struggling in a class or want to improve your grade, get to know your TA or professor. If you want to find a job, use your network. That network includes hundreds of Sigma Pi alumni." Jeff is a supporter of the Alpha Iota annual fund and encourages brothers to stay involved with gifts of time or treasure. "Come back for a visit to the house. Contribute to BA," he said. "Everyone that passed through the doors at 206 E. 12th Street developed friendships that transcend the college years. These friendships started and developed at Sigma Pi. We gained so much by being undergraduate brothers, now it is our turn to pay it back and help make the undergraduate chapter successful." Jeff and his wife, Constance, live in Vernon Hills, Illinois, with their two children, Paxton (7) and Parker Jane (5). "It's too soon to tell if Paxton will be in a fraternity, but he would be a third-generation Sigma Pi. That would be pretty cool." His job requires him to travel often, so Jeff enjoys his time home with his wife and kids. He also enjoys reading, following Chicago sports teams, and making updates to their new house. You can contact Jeff at jmockaitis@sbcglobal.net. Jeffrey Mockaitis '96 (Continued from page 1) "Sigma Pi has been motivating me for the past 55 years now." –Bruce T. Gregg '65 "Without my brothers I would have dropped out of school my freshman year and would probably be a farmer now." —Stephen G. Paul '90 How Did Sigma Pi Motivate You? "Sigma Pi motivated me by keeping me in school, meeting friends like Flake. It helped with grades and a co-op job after graduation." — Phillip J. Weber Jr. '95 "Sigma Pi has motivated me to develop character. The Lord knows that I have plenty of character!"—William Malone '97 We gained so much by being undergraduate brothers, now it is our turn to pay it back and help make the undergraduate chapter successful."
