COMMITTING TO BETA TAU'S EXCELLENCE I thank each and every one of you who contribute and support the chapter as you fulfill financial pledges to reduce the debt on our remodeled and updated Shelter. We sincerely appreciate your support, which ensures the chapter's future success. We hear many compliments from the parents and alumni about the features and improvements that we have made at the Shelter, most recently, new chairs for the chapter room, the completion of the landscaping project, the replacement of the front door—all of which today's Delts are enjoying. We invite you to stop by the Shelter to see the improvements and meet the 2015 executive team. They are an exciting group of young men developing as leaders today for tomorrow. LET'S SUPPORT OUR UNDERGRADUATE BROTHERS I'm very proud of the achievements of the chapter: improving academics, an outstanding recruitment program, and greater prominence on campus. Let's celebrate these accomplishments while working toward even greater success! Please think about volunteering to attend a dinner, join us for a House Corporation meeting, coordinate a luncheon, or pursue a special interest or topic with the undergraduates as a guest speaker. I look forward to seeing you soon. In honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month, Evan told about his life with type 1 diabetes and the importance of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Delt's philanthropy partner. The JDRF and Delta Tau Delta's effort to raise money for research helps improve the life of all of those affected by type 1 diabetes. Please consider the JDRF fundraisers and join in this effort to fund research and find a cure for juvenile diabetes. As Evan points out, "This is a disease in which a cure is in its foreseeable future." Delta Tau Delta "can be the reason that type 1 diabetes no longer exists one day." Let's plan to participate and walk with the chapter in the BT JDRF Walk. If you can't be there, then commit to support them or form an alumni team and walk in your hometown! Alumni and Undergraduates Gather for Tailgate T he third alumni social and tailgate held at Longwell's Bar & Grill in Lincoln on March 8 was another great success, followed by an exciting Husker basketball game. Alumni and undergraduates took advantage of the opportunity to meet brothers spanning five decades, socialize with one another and the undergraduates, and share recent activities and fun memories of days on campus and in the Shelter. We also enjoyed the Husker enthusiasm and energy at the basketball game. Around 50 alumni and their family members, and another 25 actives came from the Shelter for the event. We heard suggestions that another event be held in Omaha or Lincoln again. We are planning the next event, so check the Beta Tau Facebook page, www.nebraskadelts.com, or the Blaster for upcoming details. Please join us at the next event for a visit with old and new friends, a snack, and a drink! A special thanks to Brent Sallee '92 and Tom Ruff '91, as well as Eric Marsh '88, for another great event! Dave Rowe '87, Eric Marsh '88, Jim Loach, Epsilon Omega '67, and Michael Siffring '87 enjoy the tailgate on March 8.
