3 THE ORACLE AO Drops the Puck on Cancer O n Saturday, February 28, 2015, the men of Lambda Chi Alpha's Alpha-Omicron Zeta participated in Dropping the Puck on Cancer. This event is a philanthropic hockey game organized through a nonprofit in the Bloomington area, with proceeds going to the American Brain Tumor Association. Dropping the Puck was started in 2011 between Beta Theta Pi and Sigma Chi, but has grown to include eight fraternities. This year, Beta Theta Pi played Sigma Chi, Kappa Sigma played Delta Tau Delta, Phi Delta Theta played Theta Chi, and our chapter played Delta Upsilon. Our game sold over 400 tickets along with a large amount of apparel. On game day, the rink was packed with an incredible atmosphere for our players. The game was fast paced, but we had the upper hand and came out victorious, beating our competitors 4-0. The event was a huge success across the board and we raised a ton of money for a great cause. Our brothers look forward to next year's game! ALPHA-OMICRON ZETA SETS FRATERNAL STANDARD AT INDIANA Y ear in and year out we pride ourselves on the example we set for the Greek community as a whole and strive for growth and achievement within our chapter and on campus. In a time where higher education is more important, expensive, and more useful than ever, it is vital for our brotherhood to put academics above all else. ACADEMICS REMAIN TOP PRIORITY Over the last few years, Alpha-Omicron Zeta has worked its way into achieving a top-three GPA among housed fraternities on campus, and every semester we not only maintain this position, but work to better it. While school is a top priority, our brotherhood's impact extends far beyond the classroom. AO GIVES BACK Philanthropy and volunteerism are instrumental in the development of well-rounded individuals, and we make sure to do our part when it comes to benefiting the community. We recently got involved with Dropping the Puck on Cancer, one of the most successful and well-known philanthropies on campus. This event consists of eight fraternities playing in four separate hockey games, and we have a group goal to donate $100,000 to the American Brain Tumor Association this year. We are also in the preliminary stages of planning a fall philanthropy and our target is to raise 7,000 pounds of canned goods to benefit Feeding America. THANK YOU, ALUMNI Continued support from our alumni has allowed us to be so successful in all of our recent endeavors. Thanks to you, we have completed extensive renovations on our historic home, and have goals to make it one of the most well-maintained chapter houses on campus. Outside of our academic and philanthropic responsibilities, we also succeed socially and work to provide events and opportunities for our members to enjoy themselves in their free time. Hopefully you have a better understanding of who we are and what we do, and I encourage you to stop by the house next time you're in Bloomington. Our door is always open. Fraternally, Daniel Cummins '17 President dancummi@umail.iu.edu Lambda Chi Alpha brothers with the ladies of Delta Gamma at a Hoosier Hills Food Bank service event. Alpha-Omicron's fall 2014 associate class. Brothers participated in the annual Indiana University Dance Marathon. Each year at least 30 members take part in one of our campus' most successful events, which raised over $3 million in 2014. Some of our chapter leaders with the profits from our fall philanthropy, Lambda Luau, donated 1,400 pounds of canned food to Feeding America.
