The Market is open every Wednesday through March from 8am - noon. Customers choose from fresh produce, bread, desserts, quality crafts, jewelry and more. The Market is located at Desert Gardens Showgrounds on W. Kuehn, 1 mile east of Loves. Space rent is only $15-$30/day depending on size. Permits are required. The Men's Aux- iliary setup the Post Area for after the parade and many thanks to the QIA for lending the VFW chairs and tables. The front of the parade was moving be- yond the speed of a Camel so we had a break of a few minutes between the lead groups and the Camel but all went well. Finally, a big thank you to the Town of Quartzsite for their assistance, Police Chief Renfro and his Wife Karen for driving our Grand Marshalls in the HumVee and the Quartzsite Police De- partment along with the help of the Ham Operators for providing traffi c control. It was a Success. We, at the VFW are looking forward to next year with a theme of "Cruzin Quartzsite", a history of transportation in Quartzsite. So warm up the burro's, horses, covered wagons, Model A's and T's, Histori- cal vehicles, Show cars, motorcycles, ATV's and the camel will return, because at one time or another they all cruised Quartzsite. Art I - Painting Paint your way to enjoyment and re- laxation! Students of any skill level will have the ability to use their preferred medium of acrylic or oil paints. Com- position, color, and technical handling of paint will be reviewed. Specifi c prin- ciples of light, shadow, effects of per- spective and perception are explained. Simple, yet effective, demonstrations will include techniques of painting common objects such as vegetation, structures, mountains, rock, and water. Instruction will also be given on where to begin, and how to proceed with executing a painting. Students are responsible for their own supplies (a list is available at AWC Quartzsite). Very Basic Introduction to Computer Use This course introduces the funda- mentals of basic computer operations so you can plug it in, turn it on and have fun. Also receive introduction into Windows. Gemstone Carving: Participants will be presented with: a brief history of carving, an overview of current and historic carving tools and techniques, different types of materials and selection of materials, and implementation of carving, sanding, polishing techniques. Participants will learn to use the power tool set to carve gemstone jewelry. Advanced students will learn and develop the skills necessary to create more complex designs. Workshop is geared towards both beginning and advanced level individuals. All required materials and equipment will be provided by the instructor.
