Smiles do a lot more than simply let the world know you're happy. Studies suggest that smiling, forced or not, can have a positive effect on your mood, decrease stress levels, and even make everyone around you feel better. What happy news! You're probably thinking, oh, there she goes again... on another happy tangent. Well, it's that time of year we work extra hard to enjoy giving. This is the time of re- newal and sharing good news. I've often been accused of not living in reality by fo- cusing on being positive. That's like telling someone enjoying a peaceful walk in the woods there's bad news on television and they should be upset. We all choose our feelings, so why not choose joy? Religions all around the world teach to show love "A smile is the universal welcome." ~ Max Eastman Just Rambling... Provided by Elmer London, Quartzsite and Desert Messenger If there were compensation for Worrying, I'd be a rich man. Big problems don't seem to worry me overmuch. It's those niggling things that you create in your mind, When you haven't something better to do. The worst is I worry in my sleep. I have no trouble with napping. DEADLINE : WED. The Quartzsite Police Depart- ment would like to wish you Hap- py Holidays. We ask that if you drink, please drink responsibly. Don't drink and drive, make sure to have a designated driver, and wear your seat belt at all times. DUI Enforcement Antiques • Collectibles • Teacups & Teddy Bears See's Candy Fundraiser for GFWC in season 455 E. Main St. Quartzsite Open Tues. thru Sat. 9-3 928-927-4223 to all you meet; to forgive others for any harm caused; and to love one another. Besides, smiling is contagious. Studies report that just seeing one person smil- ing activates the area of your brain that controls your facial movement, which leads to a grin. Even in bad situations, if you smile, others are likely to mimic the expression. Turn that frown upside- down if you want to make some friends and it strengthens your immune system. So, whenever you're in a stressful situ- ation or are feeling down, slap a grin on your face so you can take advantage of the many benefi ts smiling has to offer. Here's a big smile wishing you and your loved ones a grateful holiday season. May the joy of the season smile upon you! ... Many giggles, too! You could Be Anywhere, Doing Anything, and You are Here Doing This, Thank You" ~ Robert Greygrass (thank you from me too!)
