T E X A S G A M M A C H A P T E R O F P I B E T A P H I A L U M N A E N E W S L E T T E R December 2014 Texas Gamma Celebrates Its New Lodge Chapter Thankful for Support from Devoted Alumnae and Friends W e did it! Thank you to everyone who made our new lodge a reality! It's hard to believe we started this project more than four years ago. We could not have done it without the generous contributions from our Pi Beta Phi sisters and friends. Just over $1 million had been pledged when we hosted the lodge dedication and ribbon cutting on October 19; 417 donors represent pledge classes from 1953-2014, as well as friends of the chapter. Our New Lodge Our Texas Gamma House Corporation worked very hard to preserve the character of the old lodge while providing an updated new home for our sisters for many years to come. The footprint of the new lodge is very similar to the original house; the rooms are larger, of course, and the chapter room serves a dual purpose as a great study space and meeting room on the second floor. Our home at #17 Greek Circle now provides state-of-the art technology and security, fire sprinklers, an elevator, newly reupholstered furniture, and some beautiful new furnishings. We preserved several of our large trees and recreated a larger eastside courtyard to be reminiscent of the original oneāall the while being conscious of ADA compliance requirements and fresh design elements. We are in the process of finishing out the basement with a more casual design, including an expanded office space, renovated work area, including mirrors for dance and exercise, and an enlarged archive storage area. Still Time to Make a Difference We will be wrapping up our capital campaign on December 31, 2014. If you have been waiting to make your donation to the new Pi Phi lodge, or would like to increase your pledge to be included on the donor wall plaque at the level of $2,500 or above, there is still time. Enclosed in this mailing you will find a letter outlining your current pledge status and plaque name. Please return this letter, along with your pledge form if you wish to make a new or increased gift, by December 31 so we can verify your listing and include you on the permanent plaque. Every Dollar Counts Many of our initial donations pledged in 2013 were given a five-year payout. These donations are to be completed by December 31, 2017. Consequently, in order for the lodge to have been completed in 2014, we had to take out a bank loan and are currently paying interest on that loan. Please remember that every dollar counts and will help us pay down this debt! Thank You for Your Support Thank you again for your support and allowing us to share this fantastic journey with you. It has genuinely been a pleasure to reconnect with so many Texas Gamma sisters and a privilege to meet many new Pi Phi sisters. Thank you!
