Page 9 Φ Δ Θ I ndiana Gamma burst out the gates to begin the school year. We received two new Phikeia, have seen a higher attendance in recruitment events, and were proud to be Homecoming champions this fall. It's a great time to be a Phi Delta Theta. Focus on Academics Indiana Gamma has seen significant improvement in promoting a high standard of academic excellence in the Chapter. Last semester, we finished with an overall GPA of 3.249, ranking third among fraternities on campus, a new member GPA of 3.247, and an initiated member GPA of 3.249. With the Chapter united in its determination to achieve top GPA on campus, things are looking bright for Phi Delta Theta and scholarship at Butler University. All-Star Weekend Philanthropy is Success September 8-13 we hosted our fall philanthropy, All-Star Weekend. Throughout this week we had events to raise money and awareness for ALS. Beginning the week we serenaded sororities to promote the week's events, and waffle sundae night helped us raise more than $400 for the ALS Association. On Thursday, Dr. Robert Pascuzzi of IU Health spoke to Butler students about how one gets ALS, how they deal with ALS, and how the organization is helping to find a cure. Saturday's big event was a wiffleball tournament for sororities, in honor of Brother Lou Gehrig. The event was a bigger success than last year's fall philanthropy with higher participation and raised more than $1,500. Chapter Prepares for Spring Recruitment We extended bids to two new members, who have now begun the Phikeia process and will be initiated at the end of the semester. The Chapter is looking forward to spring recruitment and has done an excellent job building relationships with new freshmen. The first recruitment event had an increase of 27% in attendance from last year. Brothers are also using a new online program to maintain a list of potential new members. CAP Program Implemented Indiana Gamma Chapter has created the Chapter Advancement Program (CAP), a monthly discussion-based program meeting within the classes and as a whole Chapter. Topics range from brotherhood to professionalism, including Chapter involvement and negotiating salaries. In addition to promoting discussion among Chapter members, CAP encourages alumni participation. We believe Brothers learn from alumni experiences and are better prepared after graduation. Homecoming Champions Homecoming weekend was September 27. We partnered with Kappa Kappa Gamma to execute the theme of Aladdin. Our two chapters had, by far, the highest attendance at all events, including the ice cream social, rock climbing, putt putt, and the educational speaker event. Phi Delt placed first in a cheer/dance competition inspired by the Aladdin Broadway show. We placed first in lawn decorations and third in parade floats. Indiana Gamma is proud to be Homecoming champions for the first time in over 15 years! This year has been a great success so far thanks in large part to help from our alumni. We look to continue this success as we try to reach our goal of not only being a Gold Star Chapter, but also trying to win the Kansas City Trophy. We look forward to continuing to have fun and represent Phi Delt the best way we can and look forward to the alumni networking night coming up. We encourage all alumni to stop by anytime and see the incredible things we have planned for the rest of the year.
