THE TIGER SIG Page 2 Fall 2014 Mothers Club Raises $1,400 on Family Weekend O n September 20, the Mothers Club hosted a tailgate at the Sigma Chi house for Family Weekend. We had about 300 parents, kids and alumni attend. Everyone enjoyed barbecue from Smokehouse, a new restaurant in Columbia. I would highly recommend it. We also had one large raffle that consisted of a Mizzou tent, coolers, fire pit, grill, clothing and lots of other items. We made more than $1,400 on the raffle. This money goes directly to the Mothers Club. Fun was had by all and we look forward to more fun tailgates to come. Sincerely, Becky Herring Mothers Club President Members of the Mothers Club prepare food at the tailgate on September 20. A crowd gathers at the Mothers Club Family Weekend tailgate. Annual Golf Shootout Raises More Than $3,000 The annual golf tournament grew to 66 participants. Thank You, Generous Sponsors and Participants W e had a fantastic turnout for Alumni Weekend, September 19-20, highlighted by beautiful weather, great golf, brotherhood and generosity. As you may have seen in a previous e-mail from Larry McMullen '53 and Jay Shields '76, we decided to make the third weekend in September our regular date for Xi Xi Alumni Weekend. Mark your calendar now and plan to join us next year for this great event. Our golf tournament grew to 66 participants and attracted sponsorships from a number of alumni, especially our title sponsor, Tony Roberts '05, via his Greentree Pharmacy and St. Charles Health Mart in St. Louis. Our beneficiaries, the Josh Seidel Foundation and the Xi Xi Scholarship Foundation, would like to thank Tony, our other sponsors, and all our participants for their generous support. We raised more than $3,000 and expect to double our proceeds next year! Gustin Golf Course. The weather was absolutely perfect and the course conditions were superb. Lunch was provided by Honeybaked Ham before the shotgun start at 1 p.m. With 16 foursomes, we covered most of the course. Pace of play was quick and the $50,000 shootout was even more exciting than last year. Saturday began with a VIP alumni tailgate, while the undergraduates and Mothers Club hosted a very well- organized and attended tailgate in the rear parking lot at 500 S. College. More than 300 people were in attendance and recent Xi Xi alumni performed music for the crowd on the back patio. At 3 p.m., the football team took on the Indiana Hoosiers and provided the only negative experience of the weekend, losing 31-27. Lastly, we'd like to thank the group captains for their part in recruiting and organizing participants for our tournament this year. If you attended, thank you, and we look forward to seeing you next year. If you didn't attend, plan to join us September 18- 19, 2015, for the third annual Xi Xi Shootout and Alumni Weekend! Sincerely, Mark Kaiser '05 Chairman, Xi Xi Shootout and Alumni Weekend
