MU MESSENGER 4 D elta Gamma's sisterhood can be found in every aspect of membership in Mu. Group study sessions, philanthropy, social events, and chapter retreats are all great examples of our "Do Good" philosophy. During the 2013-14 academic year, we hosted many noteworthy events and look forward to another successful semester. Convention Provides Valuable Lessons Advisory team chairman, Julie Walsh Ryan, Epsilon Nu-James Madison '95, and I attended the 2014 Convention in Phoenix, Ariz. It was so amazing. I got to meet so many sisters from all different places and I got to share stories from Mu chapter. I was so lucky to talk with other chapter presidents about how they run their chapters and have many new ideas to bring back to Mu. The most fun part was the down time I spent with my new friends and the sisters I bonded with that I would never have met without Convention 2014. Senior Scholarship Fund Mu is fortunate to have an endowment through the university. The Ophelia Robinson Shepard Senior Scholarship Fund was established in 1987 and is in honor of a beloved Mu alumna and charter member. The first scholarship will be awarded this fall to a member who is involved in the chapter, shows financial need, and has a strong academic record. If you are interested in donating to further grow the endowment, please e-mail mudgatc@gmail.com for more information or send a donation to the University of Missouri, Office of Gift Planning and Endowments, 302 Reynolds Alumni Center, Columbia, MO 65201. Celebrating 105 Years Mu's 105th anniversary was a huge success! We were able to reconnect with alumnae throughout the week during various events, such as a lecture with Elizabeth Smart, a luncheon, and house tours. We were honored to have Delta Gamma Fraternity President Laurie Petrucce Roselle, Beta Iota-Purdue '75, join us during the week. We encourage you to look at a full photo album of this week's events, which can be found at mudg105.shutterfly.com. Sisters Raises $3,718 at DG Diner Mu's second DG Diner was a success. The theme was Pretzels and Cheese with the DeeGees. The chapter raised $3,718, which was donated to the Delta Gamma Foundation and the Center for Children with Visual Impairments in St. Louis and Children's Center for Visual Impairments in Kansas City. Anchor Splash ® 2013 Fraternity teams, coached by DG members, performed choreographed routines both in and out of the water. The costumes and props improve each year. We are thankful for Megan Elemdorf '10, director of Anchor Splash®, for organizing the wonderful philanthropy event. Homecoming and Greek Week In 2013, we were paired with the men of Alpha Epsilon Pi. We had such a great time with these men and we were even able to place first in skit! This fall, we are paired with the men of Sigma Nu and Beta Upsilon Chi. We are so excited to come up with ideas for our float, house decorations, and skit. We hope to see you on the weekend of October 25 as we cheer on the Tigers against the Vanderbilt Commodores. During Greek Week, we paired with the men of Sigma Chi and Alpha Kappa Lambda. It was a blast! Together, we placed second in the trivia bowl, third in flag football, and fifth in banner. Join Us at Future Events We hope to see you at future events so we can continue to strengthen our bonds of sisterhood and meet all of the wonderful women who have contributed to making this chapter as special as it is today! In the Bonds, Samantha Reyes '11 Mu chapter president slrfk8@mail.missouri.edu Delta Gammas celebrate Bid Day 2013.
