The nightly news is full of sad sto- ries, horrifi c tales of death, terror, and darkness. Oh, and then there's the news of a losing candidate fi ling a complaint against me in federal court for violating her 1st, 4th & 14th Amendment rights. My fi rst reaction was, "Are you frikin' kid- ding me?" Isn't that the very same publisher who demands freedom of speech and freedom of the press? Okay, so how did I transition from lawsuit to smiles? Easy... Gratitude! Free speech and smiles can really go together in Quartzsite, even in turbulant times. You have the freedom and the right to share your happiness through words and your actions. You can choose to smile or frown. Yup... it's a choice! Remember that! Some of these folks hide behind profes- sional jobs, while others hide in their homes away from the public. We are blessed to be able to choose how we live and where we live. When our hearts are full of grati- tude, our smiles show through our hearts. But then, we all know there are those who cannot stand it when others are happy. Wow, are they really missing out! As the snowbirds start returning to their favorite nesting spot in the Sonoran Desert, I encourage you to see beyond the tales of dark- ness about our town, which may or may not be factual, and share your gratitude with others. Give a Smile...it's free therapy! "Let my soul smile through my heart and my heart smile through my eyes, that I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts." ~ Paramahansa Yogananda Just Rambling... Provided by Elmer London, Quartzsite and Desert Messenger The good book says earth's population will never be destroyed by flood again. However, it didn't say selective flooding may occur. A little bit here, a little bit there. Some bad, some worse and some devastating. Is this a hint of things to come? Still the earth rolls steadily on... Across from McDonald's • Quartzsite NEED CASH?
