Gold Sand Concentrates Placer Gold 24 Mesh Size up to Nuggets Quartzsite Licensed Business By Shanana "Rain" Golden-Bear One of the most unique events in Quartzsite will again take place this Halloween. The famous Quartzsite Halloween Caravan is being resurrected by local resi- dents. The Halloween Caravan was a 20+ year tradition in Quartzsite until recently, however local "Friends" on Facebook's Quartzsite Chatter Group decided to resur- rect the tradition for the kids. With over 900 members, "Friends" have been busy over the past year work- ing on ideas and holding meetings. Halloween falls on a Friday this year, so it's perfect for a "Spooktacular" time! After classes, Quartzsite Elementary School (QES) buses will deliver the young- sters to Town Hall where they will play games and be entertained until the Caravan leaves at 2pm. The Caravan will stop at local RV Park Recreation Halls, where the residents gather to give out candy to the kids without them having to go door to door. The fi rst stop along the route will be the Community Center, where businesses and groups will set up and hand out candy to the young- sters. The Haunted House at the Library will be the last stop. The Library will be closed all day for staff to transform the Library into the scary Haunted House Finale. Parents will pick up their children at Town Hall. Permission slips will be available at QES, in the next two editions of Desert Messenger, and online at the Town's website, www.QuartzsiteArizona.com . The next planning meeting will be Wed. Sept. 24th at 4:30pm at Com- munity Bible Church Annex located on Sunrise St. Quartzsite. If your RV Park or Business would like to be included on the Caravan Route or if you'd like to Volunteer, contact Council Members Carol Kelley at 928-785-7187. If your RV Park would also like to be open to After-Dark Trick-or-Treaters, con- tact Monica Timberlake at 928-916-4120. If your Group or Business would like to participate at the Commu- nity Center, call Shanana "Rain" Golden-Bear at 928-916-4235. (Businesses can also donate candy without attending.) If you'd like to help with the Haunted House, con- tact Recreation Director Yesenia Jackson at Town Hall, 928-927-4333. Hi Jolly Daze Parade meeting scheduled The annual Hi Jolly Daze Parade will be held on Saturday, January 10th. This year, the VFW Post 769 will sponsor the annual Hi Jolly Daze Parade in cooperation with the Town of Quartzsite. There will be a meeting on Wed. September 24th at 2pm at the Library. If you're interested in helping, please at- tend the meeting. The theme offered by VFW is "to commemorate the 50th an- niversary of the Vietnam War." Any organization wishing to participate is encouraged to attend the meeting or contact VFW Post 759 at 928-927-7697.
