Send your alumni news to Steve Good 1645 at sgood@phideltatheta.org. Proud to Be an Iowa Gamma Phi She continues to play a key role in guiding our young brothers through their years at ISU. The capital campaign to raise $1.5 million for the renovation of the house and retirement of the house mortgage continues to be a great success, with the total pledged to date in excess of $1.12 million. As is true with the renovation itself, the campaign effort has generated many benefits in addition to the funds raised. Foremost among them is a huge increase in the connection among the brothers of Iowa Gamma of Phi Delta Theta (1) between actives in the house and Phi Delt alumni, (2) among Phi Delt alumni overall and, especially, (3) among the many alumni (over 80 in all) who have brought their personal efforts to the capital campaign. If you are in the latter category and have helped to raise the funds for the renovation, we owe you a great debt of gratitude! Thank you for your efforts past, present, and future to realize the vision we have for our chapter. It has personally been a pleasure and a privilege to work with you on this campaign. Brotherhood is alive and well at Iowa Gamma and it is a very special time to be an Iowa Gamma Phi Delt. An indicator of the connection and pride we all share through Phi Delta Theta was the turnout at our weekend-long 100th anniversary celebration in the fall of 2013. We had a phenomenal showing with over 225 attendees! You can also feel the enormous energy, pride and enthusiasm of the young men in the house. They are seeing the results of the capital campaign and renovation in so many tangible and intangible ways. As a key indicator, since the renovation began in 2008, recruitment ("rush" to us older guys) has been highly successful with pledge classes of 20+ quality young men typical year after year. The house capacity has been raised from 39 to 50 through the renovation and actives and pledges are now (for the first time in quite a while) competing to live in the house even into their junior and senior years. If you haven't been engaged with the chapter recently, give some thought to how you might bring your special qualities to the mix. Stop by the house at Homecoming this fall or on your next trip to Ames. I know that you will be glad you did. I hope that you, too, continue to be proud to be a Phi! Yours in the Bond, Bill Beckman 934 Campaign Co-Chairman (858) 204-1776 / beckprop@aol.com (Continued from page 1)
