PHI DELTA THETA FRATERNITY • IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY • FALL 2014 THE IOWA STATE PHI Proud to Be an Iowa Gamma Phi • Morale Is Up and Renovations Provide Huge Benefits to Chapter • Help Us Finish Renovations with a Gift or Pledge Today B rothers in the Bond, I hope that this message finds you well and fully engaged in whatever gives you pleasure in your life. This summer has been busy at the Iowa Gamma Phi Delt house at 2035 Sunset in Ames. We just completed the third phase of the renovation of the house, a process that began in 2008. It looks great! We completed renovation of the study rooms, construction of built-in bunks in the cold-air dorm (similar to 325 Welch, but better), reworking the restrooms, building a new TV room, and many other improvements to make it more functional and attractive. When the renovation is completed, our house will be as fine as any fraternity house at ISU. In addition to the substantial improvements done to date, we will have a final phase of renovation coming up in the summer of 2015 or 2016 – modifications to the facade of the house and the site. Timing for the final phase will be dependent upon the rate at which we are able to raise the remainder of our capital campaign funds. More powerful than the physical aspects of the renovation has been the upswing in pride among the men of Phi Delta Theta, both our undergraduate brothers and our alumni. The Phi Delt actives and pledges at Iowa State are a wonderful group of young men and have all of the traits we look for in our brothers. If you have not been to the Phi Delt house recently, stop by soon and see for yourself what a fine, bright and personable group of young men we have. Take the time also to stop in and say hello to Mom G (Corinne Gilbert), our warm and outgoing house director for the past seven years. T he Iowa Gamma Chapter won five awards at Convention this summer, with a very proud honor in the Dallas Alumni Award. • Dallas Alumni Award (alumni engagement) • Gold Star Chapter (top 20 chapter of over 170+ chapters) • General Headquarters Trophy (100% reporting) • Biggers Ritual Trophy (sound ritual practices) • Community Service Citation (community involvement) The Dallas Alumni Award is given annually to the outstanding undergraduate chapter that promotes the teachings of The Bond among alumni and ensures "membership in Phi Delta Theta is not a mere campus interlude, but a Fraternity for life." We are proud that Iowa Gamma received this award, especially on the heels of our centennial. We are so thankful for our loyal and generous alumni for continuing to show our younger brothers that Phi Delta Theta is for life. This award is for you, too! IOWA GAMMA WINS SEVERAL AWARDS AT CONVENTION WITH THE DALLAS ALUMNI AWARD AS A HIGH HONOR Iowa Gamma won several awards at Convention, including a very high honor of the Dallas Alumni Award. The study and dressing rooms have been overhauled and provide an excellent place to improve academics. The hallways have been updated and all floors are safe with fire suppression systems.
