We sure hear plenty of inspirational stories after a person dies, though. Wouldn't it be nice to share with our loved ones how important they are to us while they're still living? Maybe we're so busy trying to make a difference we forget about enjoying being in the moment. If we worry about making a differ- ence in the world, we'll just spend our time worrying. If we get out there and JUST DO IT with no attachments, life will be good. I love watching inspiring television shows of young people (or old) reaching for their dreams. Remember, life is a journey. It's all about the process, not necessarily about reaching the destination... or even winning. We all need to take some time and "smell the roses." As we move through life with our goals in mind, it's good to remember the small things, the things that make life worth living; like enjoying the beautiful sunrise, sipping a cup of tea, chatting with our best friend, watching the clouds drift across the sky. We could be forgiving our en- emies, nurturing our relationships, and feeling gratitude for the bless- ings in our lives. It's great to focus on the destination, but let's learn to be happy in the here and now. Remember those things we learned in kindergarten? An ant standing on it's head has scored a crumb. After you vacuum them up, you may find one still roaming around in circles. Listen closely, he's shouting, where did everybody go? Main Street After going dark for the summer months, the Art Guild will start their meetings again the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at the Senior Center from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The 1st meeting on October 2nd at 6:30pm will be about the Master's Challenge. The challenge was to paint a picture from one of the old Master's paintings, thus learning to paint the Old Master's way. Bring your framed painting for critiquing along with a small paragraph regarding the original artist and a copy or photo of the original art. Oct 16th's meeting there will be a demo on painting different cloud effects by Mary Huntley, and a demo on using stumps for differ- ent effects by Dinice Ross. At this meeting, bring a list of what you would like to learn or relearn. A partial list is as follows: Oil Rough- ing, Wipe-out, Pastels, Oil Pastels, Reverse Glass, Cards. We welcome back our snowbird artists and welcome anyone else interested in art that would like to learn different techniques and form. We want to welcome back Jane Swank, our President of the Art Guild – we missed her! Art Guild news
