Luck- ily the weather cooperated that day and although it was really hot, it was a great fun day for everyone. A special thanks to the Rotary Club for organiz- ing this family and town event this year, and for all the hard work it takes to put this event on. Great job!! and thanks to all the volunteers who help make it happen!!! Candidate for JP4 Constable Growing up in Quartzsite I learned the value of hard work and dedication to my community. My family has owned several businesses in Quartzsite and I spent most of my youth serving food at our family restaurant. When I was 19 years old I moved away from Quartzsite to experience a life in larger city but returned to raise my son in a safe community. I am a well-educated individual dedi- cated to learning and experiencing all that life has to offer. I proudly attend- ed Arizona Western College here at the Quartzsite campus from 2010-2013 in the fi eld of Administration of Criminal Justice and Behavior Health. I have received several awards for my com- mitment and accomplishments. One that pertained to our area was In 2012, I was the recipient of the Women's Opportunity Award from Soroptimist International. I currently volunteer with Quartzsite Elementary School, Cruise in, church activities, seniors and at risk youth in my community. With all my volunteer work I learn more from those I serve then what I give. My vast experience with children and adults has taught me to be fair, im- partial, trustworthy and professional in order to handle sensitive informa- tion confi dentially and timely without interjecting my personal feelings. I believe wholeheartedly in the Law and abide by it with confi dence and as- suredly. I believe that we must all live within Law and not above the law to the utmost of our abilities. Main Street nothing so pleasing to a right-brain person as completing a left-brain job successfully. However, this was noth- ing compared to getting stuck in the sand and having my window screen cut and my TV stolen. In Organ Pipe Cactus National Monu- ment: my solar system stopped work- ing. Back in Yuma, my 3,000 lube and oil was due, had my radiator fl ushed at a different place, went four places before I found a black & white TV to replace the one stolen in Mexico, went to three places and called three others to see if they could replace my camper window screen which was cut in Mexico (they couldn't; so it looks like Velcro or duct tape), bought extra 30-watt batteries in case my solar system goes out again in the middle of nowhere. It's all working fi ne now -- and has been for a matter of hours -- days even. I was frankly amazed when I wrote the above list. It's seems like a lot, but at the time, it just seemed like one thing needed fi xin'. The trick is taking care of things when they happen so they don't add up. Each time I take care of something, it makes me just that much stronger and more capable. Sooooo, sock it to me life; I can handle it! Fisch's Bitters bottle was molded in the shape of a fi sh. This "medi- cine" bottle was patented and manufactured in 1866 in a variety of colors, but the aquamarine color is the one that serious collectors desire most. "Very rare," is how a "Greeley's Bourbon Bitters bottle with an intact 1869 label," was recently listed. Part of the label reads, "A wine glass full should be taken before each meal." This barrel- shaped bottle was fi rst produced in a light amber, gradually increasing in density to a very-deep amber. Before the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906, Medicine Shows were free to set up anywhere, anytime, and charge whatever they felt they could get away with. Grandma Scott told me she remembered Medicine Shows stopping off in Quartzsite, with a sigh she added, "When those fancy bottles ran dry, or folks realized the contents were mostly whiskey, they came back to see me." Wheeler's "In the Shadow of Saguaros" available exclusively at The Oasis Bookstore and Tyson's Well Museum. 800-656-HOPE JULY 4TH FROM PAGE 1
