CANDIDATES FROM PAGE 11 residents and winter visitors, in RV parks, motel, and restaurants. I am familiar with the problems of running a business here in Quartzsite. Before I moved here I served in the United States Army, and I founded the open air shelter for the homeless in Santa Cruz CA after the Loma Prieta earthquake. After I moved here I was elected Republican Pre- cinct committeeman for Quartzsite, and I served as Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice Chairman for the Republican Party for La Paz County. If elected I will work with the other Council mem- bers to reduce the Sewer and water rates and solve the numerous problems facing our community. I ask for your vote for Town Council on Aug. 26, 2014. 928-257-0371. brdtrainer@yahoo.com LORETTA WARNER Candidate for Town Council. I believe voters should know who they are voting for and what qualifi cations a candidate is bringing to the Town Council. I am a property owner and the owner of two busi- nesses in Quartzsite, an accounting business and a private mail/shipping service. My background spans over 45 years. I have been a Project Manager for companies that provided accounting software to the legal industry, I taught in technical schools and at the University of Wyoming, Jackson, Wyoming, and spent two years as an editor for McGraw-Hill. In addition, I have an extensive background with book- keeping, budgeting, securities, insurance and other fi nancial aspects in a variety of industries. I am certain my business, bookkeeping, teaching and managerial experience allows me to bring a variety of qualifi cations to the Town Council. I have had experience with a number of industries including accounting, legal, real estate, contracting and educa- tion. In addition, I have worked with RV Park own- ers, cafés, grocers, churches, non-profi t organiza- tions to mention a few industries here in Quartzsite. All of this experience provides me with a broad knowledge which can be drawn upon to help address various issues presented to the Council. I am confi dent we can fi nd a way for the Town Council to work with business and property owners alike to achieve a harmonious environment, which is important for the survival of Quartzsite. As it stands now, outside agencies that have the ability to provide Quartzsite with loans, grants and other fi nancial aid currently view Quartzsite as a "weak project part- ner". We must prove to them that Quartzsite has taken them seriously when they stated "success in obtaining additional loans will be heavily dependent on the Towns ability to show strong leadership …" (Quoted from Memorandum dated June 18, 2014, Skylor R Miller, Quartzsite Town Manager.) I would be honored to serve as a member of Quartzsite Town Council to help achieve the goal of strong leadership. The following candidates are running for Quartzsite Justice of the Peace (JP 4) (in alphabetical order) TAMMY CARNEVALE 2. Quartzsite Justice of the Peace 3. Open Position 4. Campaign Website/Social Media: None 5. I have been employed at the Quartzsite Justice Court since January 2003. My experience covers all aspects of the court from an entry-level position to serving as JP4 senior clerk and part-time pro tem judge. During this time, I have processed paper- work and presided over every type of case we handle including felony preliminary hearings, criminal and civil traffi c cases, small claims hearings, forcible detainer trials, and orders of protection/harassment hearings. I have handled cases for other courts in La Paz County. I have a good working knowledge of both criminal and civil matters. I have completed Arizona Supreme Court sponsored education and am qualifi ed as part-time pro tem judge (2008), Civil Traffi c Hearing Offi cer (2007), and Small Claims Hearing Offi cer (2005). Since 2003, I have completed over 500 hours of judicial training including course work at the National Judi- cial College in Reno, Nevada. I have been privileged to be mentored by the current presiding judge who encouraged me to reach for every opportunity pos- sible for growth and knowledge. With my previous education and experience, I will be able to meet all requirements for the position of Justice of the Peace. In conclusion, I am knowledgeable in all aspects of the Quartzsite Justice Court. I believe I am well qualifi ed to serve as your Justice of the Peace be- cause of: (1) The education I have received through Supreme Court sponsored training; (2) My work experience as a court clerk, senior clerk, hearing offi cer, and part-time pro tem judge; (3) My repu- tation for fairness and impartiality; (4) My ability to listen to both sides of an issue before making a decision; (5) My administrative experience includ- ing supervising all court clerks, assisting with bud- get development and management, and complying with Minimum Accounting Standards. 6. 1996 7. My morals are strong, and I have a reputation for being honest and caring. Because I do not believe politics belong in the Courtroom, I have never been involved in politics. I believe a judicial offi cer must remain impartial to ensure an independent, fair and competent legal process. We cannot take sides.
